How to Beat The Stress of Last Minute Travel Packing

March 29, 2018

Everyone has been there: waiting too long to pack for a trip or completely forgetting to pack all-together. No matter the travel circumstances, packing last-minute for a trip is a nightmare.

Initially, it seems impossible to pack everything we need within a short amount of time. But despite the fact, last-minute packing is actually doable and can be done efficiently and quickly.

You just need to follow the right tips.

This is how to beat the stress of last-minute travel packing.

Make a list for everything

First, think about your basic needs: clothes, toiletries, travel documents, and itinerary – and move forward from there.

By making a list of everything to bring before packing, you avoid the anxiety of feeling you’ve forgotten something important when walking out the door. For example, this action is especially helpful if you’re going on a long road trip and need to keep your trunk organized by separating your family’s belongings from one another.  Once you have your items organized within a list, then you can begin to actually pack, which leads into the next tip.

Pack minimally

The worst thing you can do when you’re under a time constraint is overpacking and bringing things you never needed in the first place; therefore, pack minimally instead!

When it comes to your wardrobe, choose clothes than can be versatile for both daytime and evening wear, such as a collared shirt that can be dressed up or down with a nice blazer or casual sweater. In conjunction, only bring essential toiletries so you can take advantage of the free soap at hotels! Also, leave behind valuables such as jewelry or objects with sentimental value. In the midst of your frantic packing, you’re bound to lose or misplace something.

However, the two things that can have a generous amount of room in your luggage are underwear and socks! Lastly, you can also be resourceful with organization by using packing cubes or rolling your clothes to optimize more space.

Be mindful with how you use a carry-on

If you’re flying, you always want to keep the most important items in a carry-on, such as your laptop, electronics, camera, and travel documents. Moreover, you never want to separate yourself from your identification papers, personal information, or access to your lodging accommodation. It would also be wise to pack one complete outfit in a carry-on as well, just in case your main luggage gets lost in transport.

Buy traveler’s insurance

No matter how hard we try, we sometimes can never avoid unexpected inconveniences, especially out-of-pocket expenses. Buying traveler’s insurance is a great way to ease your nerves of any potential financial trouble you may run into in the future. For example, if your items get stolen or a trip is suddenly cancelled, you can receive compensations or refunds for them.

We all have had to endure the stress of packing for a trip last-minute. But as long as we have a game plan that keeps us organised before jetting off to our next destination, we won’t have to worry about whether or not we forgot something. The only things we need to be concerned about when traveling is having fun with our loved ones, putting on enough sunscreen, and staying energised throughout the whole day!
