Proud Parent

She decided two years ago to not go to university and turned down her place in favour of getting a job. From my point of view this was ok as long as she was happy.

The first interview she went for with a large insurance company was the job she got. I was very happy and very proud.

She has always been very driven and focused and I always knew she would achieve in her new job.

Going back to yesterday afternoon and her phone call she rang to say she had been made a permanent senior, full time, after just a three month trial.

As a parent the pride I felt was immense and made me feel I was going to burst and as usual for me when any of my children make me proud it will always bring a tear to my eye as it did yesterday. It is such an achievement in such a short time Juts maybe some teaching and guidance I have given my children is paying off although in truth none of it is down to me.

J has dedicated herself to climbing the ladder in the workplace and has been noticed by those people that matter.

The fact that she also wants to ring her dad to tell me the good news gives me the absolutely best feeling in the world. 

It has been proved without a doubt that finding a job and not going to university was the right decision for her. 

I don’t know if she will remember, but when she was little we used to sit on the patio and look up at the night sky and all the stars. I used to say as you grow up reach for the stars and you will always achieve what you want in life and she certainly is doing that. 

She has always had a competitive winning mentality probably coming from me, but I believe in winning and rightly or wrongly I have taught all my children that nobody remembers who comes second. It’s just what I believe and workplace is no different in my opinion.

Well done J you make me proud to call you my daughter. I love you lots and I guess now it won’t be long before you are a team manager.
