[AD] 5 Tips For An Awesome Motor Caravan Trip This Summer

April 9, 2020

It’s always fun to go on a travelling adventure, but there’s some extra special about going on an adventure in a motorhome. While on other types of trips you have to work around other people — for instance, where public transport is going, where the hotels are located, and so on — when you have your own set of wheels, one with a bedroom no less, then you’ll have the freedom to go wherever you want. If you’ve got your eye on taking a trip in your motor caravan this summer, then take a look at our tips below, which will ensure it’s the trip of a lifetime!

Plan in Advance

Part of the appeal of having a motorhome is that it allows you to simply wake up, get behind the wheel, and go on an adventure. However, while there’s much to love about this approach, if you want to make your trip extra special then it’s important to do a bit of planning first. The best ideas come when they’re allowed to ruminate a little, so talk with your loved one (or ones), brainstorm some ideas, and see what you come up with.

Where You’ll Go

Now that’s the question. While the freedom of the open road is exciting, it can also be a little crippling: just how do you decide where to go? Instead of trying to come up with a destination off the bat, it’ll be better if you think about what type of landscape you want to explore, and then develop the plan from there. There’ll be one destination for a trip that includes nature and trips to small villages, one that involves going far off the beaten path and into wilderness. And perhaps the biggest decision: do you stay in the UK, or head further afield?

A Fully Functioning Vehicle

Your motorcaravan should be the star of the show, not the villain. In order to ensure that your trip goes as smoothly as possible, it’s important to check that your vehicle is full working condition and that it’s legally allowed to be on the roads. Before your trip, identify any potential problems and visit Angus Mackinnon to ensure it has a valid MOT, if necessary. Making sure that your motorhome is in tip-top condition will give you peace of mind while you’re on your trip, too.

Supplies and Entertainment

You’ll need a thing or two for your trip. While you’ll be able to stop off at supermarkets along the way, it’s recommended that you bring some staples and snacks with you. Your camping supplies will likely already be in the van. Don’t forget a few sources of entertainment, such as a deck of cards and a board game: they’ll come in handy during the evenings.

An Adventurous Attitude

Finally, don’t forget to pack your adventurous attitude! If you throw yourself into all the fun and adventure that a trip like this can bring, then you’ll find that things are much more likely to go smoothly, and that you have an awesome trip!
