A Day Out At Mountain View Ranch Cardiff
As summer starts to draw to a close the days of sunshine are less and less, but last Saturday the sun came out and there was blue skies for as far as the eye could see.

We decided to visit an outdoor centre called Mountain View Ranch which is actually right on our doorstep. It’s only about a 10 minute drive, so why I’ve never been before I have no idea.

Mountain View Ranch is a family run business which really has some very simple principles, but they’re fundamentally important ones in this age of technology. It has been operating since 2013. The husband and wife team of Aaron and Klara believe in improving the physical and mental wellbeing of children and of course adults. Children are naturally curious and Mountain View Ranch allows children to explore and teaches them how to judge risks whether it be climbing a tree or some other activity. It also allows the meadows to grow naturally which of course encourages insects and wild flowers to re-establish themselves.
Every year new attractions are added and as they say it all adds to fresh air fuelled family fun day out.

As you walk through the meadows you come across many exciting places to stop and let the kids explore. First up was the enchanted wood where you could search out the fairies, a unicorn and werewolf. Upon leaving the enchanted wood you come across the enchanted cottage which is awesome and I actually think I could if moved in haha!

We continued walking along the trail and came across the Tipi Village. A perfect place to stop for a picnic and the girls loved climbing the Totem Pole.

We moved along after lunch and made our way to the Fairy Forest which had a treehouse, tree swing and many fairies. They were even carved out of the trees. It also had a wishing well and of course the goblin tree.

Next along on the trail we came across Roly Poly Hill and then the Dragons Nest. Not far away was the Lost Boys Hideout. The girls loved discovering all the different areas as well as using the tree swings and climbing the trees. We then came across the Willow Maze which is awesome and loads of fun finding our way to the middle. We took quite a few wrong turns before getting it right. The wife also found her dragon babies as you can see in the photo below!

Finally on the way out is the Gruffalo trail which is brilliant. There is a snake, amongst other Gruffalo characters to find and of course the Gruffalo himself. They are made from wicker and are fantastic, so much attention to detail

There were times that I forgot how close I was to the city as we all immersed ourselves in the massive amount of outdoor activities and just enjoying family fun together in the great outdoors. Time flew by and before we knew it, it was mid afternoon, there is also a park just by the entrance which has a Zipwire, swings and slides. Getting the girls out of there was very hard work!

Getting outdoors is vitally important for our children. They learn so much more than they ever will stuck in front of an iPad or the television. Mountain View Ranch is perfect for sparking their imagination and getting creative with play.

Will we be going again definitely. It was a fabulous day out and lots of fun was had by us as a family.

We paid for entry which was £27 for a family of 4 which I might add is great value. If you are looking for a fun day then I would highly recommend Mountain View Ranch In Cardiff. There is no better way to spend the day than getting outdoors.
