A Final Post About My Daughter E And University: She Is A Qualified Nurse

It’s been nearly three years since I took my daughter, E, to Southampton to start her university course to study nursing.

It actually only seems like yesterday, and I clearly remember how emotional I was at leaving E at her university halls, and the drive back home was lonely. It gave me plenty of time to reflect on how much she had achieved in such a short time, and of course I knew I was going to miss her, and it was tough leaving her a two hour drive away from home, but that’s life and your children grow up which means you have to let go sometime and this was the time. After all your children are only on loan.

So three years on it’s all done. My daughter has qualified as a nurse. In fact she has achieved a 1st in her degree which is the top mark. I have to admit it’s awesome and it makes me burst with pride, and love for her, and I can’t wait to see her receive her cap and gown at her graduation ceremony later on this year. Her hard work, self belief, and dedication has really paid off.

My daughter initially was coming home to start her first job which she got after her one and only interview, but on her last placement in university, which was at Southampton general hospital, she found the job she really wanted to do, and I guess she wanted to stay in Southampton. After all it’s become her home now because she has been living there for the last three years. I would be a liar if I wasn’t just a bit sad that she is not coming home, but life moves on and ultimately I want nothing more than her to be happy and deep down I know this is what will make her happy.

Today is the day she starts her new job and I’m sure she will be brilliant at it. Good luck, I’m so excited for you.

Thankfully she has found somewhere nice to live, and she has the job she wants in life. If l’m honest I couldn’t wish for more. I have always told my children to be true to themselves and it’s definitely paying off.

Finally I just want to say to my daughter, E, well done, you deserve everything for all your hard work, and you would not believe how proud I am of you. I love you lots, and your future and destiny is in your hands, but I know they are safe hands. Go get them girl x
