A Rare Moment With My Children
Just a few days ago,I had a rare moment in my life.
It was Tuesday August 2nd and what made this day so special was not meant to be, but turned out that way and in a purely selfish way it was pure magic mainly because it has never happened before and is very unlikely to happen again. So what was so special?
It was my daughters 19th birthday and we had planned to go for lunch at a local pub but circumstances changed what was going to happen. My Mum who would have normally come with us had become unwell through the night and was unable to make it. My wife had to work and also couldn’t come along.
We went anyway and arrived around midday and sat down and started to decide what we wanted to eat and drink.
Our food arrived quickly and we were having a great time. About halfway through the meal I realised something.
It just dawned upon me.
I was sitting there looking across the table and all five of my children were chatting away. I just lent back for a minute and observed them, and actually became a little bit overcome watching a beautiful moment.
The feeling of joy is almost impossible to describe watching all five of them together with me. My children are from two marriages.
However, a thought that struck me was even though the three oldest and the twins have different mothers there is a strong sibling bond, that as the years go by will only get stronger.
In a strange way it feels like karma balancing out the terrible sibling relationships I have.
It really was a precious moment and one that I will treasure forever. Also knowing that I am part of the reason they are all here gives an incredible sense of pride that if I achieve nothing else in life,this is fine because it’s wonderful!
Anybody that reads my blog will know how much I love my children and how much I love being a dad. Just being a parent is such a blessing that I feel you should never take for granted. I have been so lucky in life. I just sat and savoured this very RARE MOMENT.
After a while I continued to eat my meal and the three eldest started arguing about where they were going that night which brought a smile to my face.
Normal service resumed!

I love this post so much, it's so so nice! I often get confused when my mother and farther stare at me and my sister sometimes when we are in mid conversations with each other but I imagine it's for reasons like this. So happy that your family is so close.

In that case I've only 6 more years to wait until all 4 of my kids can sit and talk for 5 minutes without arguing.

I have to say I love the way siblings interact and the amazing bond that they have, and great that even with the age gap and the different mother they still have a great bond. Every right to be proud.
Mine now vary in age from 27 to 37 and can still revert to a bunch of arguing teenagers when all under one roof. They playfully push and shove each other on the couch or argue over dishes in the kitchen. Brings back the times you miss as they get older.
