[AD] Staycation At Home This Year In Our Garden

The last 14 months have to have been the most difficult that any of us have had to endure in our lifetimes. With lockdowns, social distancing and not seeing our loved ones such as family and friends for months on end, it’s certainly been difficult. Thankfully it’s nearing an end and our freedoms are starting to return.

For my family and I, the last 14 months have certainly made us appreciate our home and garden so much more. I also realised that parts of our garden were in a desperate need of revamping because they have started to look very dirty and untidy.

We have, as a family, already decided that going abroad in 2021 is not going to happen. Yes, the pandemic in the UK may be under control, but unfortunately many of the sunny holiday destinations abroad are not, and the pandemic is still very much running riot. So for us a staycation at home is the only way forward for 2021. So, that will mean getting the garden in ship shape condition and making our garden the place to be this summer!

The first place I want to start in our garden is the patio area. It really needs uplifting as it currently looks very tired. I’m looking to use Very and their Home & Garden range to give it the wow factor for our summer at home in the garden.

The first job was the paving slabs. They were very dirty from the winter and lots of weeds had grown through the joints. I removed any rubbish and pressure washed all the paving slabs. In addition, I removed all the weeds to give me a blank canvas to make this a fab place to have a bbq or just eat our lunch or tea on a sunny, summer day.

The next part of my summer garden project was to decide on a new patio set and parasol. This is where I came across the fabulous range of garden furniture that Very have on their website in the Garden and Outdoors range Section. You really are spoilt for choice. We finally settled on the 6 piece Barcelona dining set. It really has everything: 4 chairs, a table, cushions for the seats plus a parasol. The colour was perfect and the cushion covers were a blue and white stripe with the parasol being blue so it all matched perfectly. The Barcelona Dining set will definitely make our garden the place to be this summer! I know it has definitely made our garden very popular with our family.

My ultimate aim for this patio area is to turn it into a perfect bbq area for the family this summer and also so that it will be a nice chill out area for us as a couple to sit out and watch the sun go down on a warm summer’s evening.

I have always loved canvas prints inside our home and I thought why not bring the inside outside and add a canvas print to what is quite honestly a boring old painted wall. The canvas print has truly lifted the whole area. I have also added some stone animals at the request of my nine year old twin girls! As summer progresses the girls have planted sunflowers and these will grow along the one side of the area next to the wall. I have also planted some garden pots up with flowers to add colour to the whole area.

We have already had our first bbq of the summer and our new Barcelona dining set was perfect for us to sit down and enjoy all the delicious bbq food.

This area of our garden will become the family area where we can either sit, eat or just chill out this summer with our plans of using our garden as our staycation at home, and with just a little bit of work and finding the right garden furniture and accessories we have created the perfect outdoor space.
