In couple of weeks time as I have already written in a previous post called Family Holidays this Summer, I made no secret of the fact that Disneyland is not my ideal holiday, but hey ho I have a problem. My wife and our five year old twin girls are mega excited and I am doing my best to get into the spirit of Disney.

I am not a Disney type of person. You know kind, smiley, wholesome, and yes there is no bad in the world when Disney is in your life. Of course the reality is there are plenty of bad people, get a grip people! Mickey Mouse and co are not going to solve the problems of the world.
For all of that I will be going to Disney in June and I thought maybe I need to buy some disney clothes to help put a smile on my face. It is gradually working, but I keep dreaming of a beach holiday in an all inclusive hotel.
A parcel turned up the other day when I was home alone and I open it to find Mickey Mouses ears. Ok, this is supposed to put me in the mood. Well if I’m honest it didn’t, it just reinforced how much I would prefer a sun holiday near the beach.

I really am trying to get in the spirit of Disney because it’s blatantly obvious to a grump like me how excited my wife and twins are with our planned visit to Disney. Especially my wife, who I think if she thinks about it for too long she could quite possibly explode with excitement, although she is quite convinced she is Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Who am I to burst her bubble? Haha!
My favourite Disney princess is of course my wife and yes we love to act out Disney moments. My wife looking lovingly at her very own superhero, haha! I wish.
So the other night I went online and bought some Disney clothes hoping this would get me excited. The first thing to turn up was a Grumpy onesie. I have never owned a onesie before and actually it felt really good to wear! I was pleasantly surprised how comfortable I was in it!

Over the next couple of weeks the Disney fashion parade will continue over on my Instagram and Facebook page. All clothes will be modelled by yours truly. Also I may well pop up anywhere in my Grumpy onesie. What will I be hoping to achieve? Full on Disney spirit! So when I land in Paris, you won’t be able to hold me back! Roll on Disney!
Any tips or advice on how I immerse myself in the world of Disney would be really appreciated!

I don’t know a way to immerse yourself, I think you are either a Disney fanatic or you just go along for the ride. I am a fanatic, Hubster just goes along. I wouldn’t say he’s grumpy, he just isn’t over the moon like us fanatics. I’m guessing you’re the same way- which is good because someone in the group needs to think with a clear head or you’ll end up sleeping on a park bench because you can’t bear to leave the magic. #ThatFridayLinky

You know Elsa from Frozen? Well, you could always get her face tattoed on your back side? That, I think, will be total Disney immersion. Enjoy Disneyland Paris. All those years ago when I was a travel journalist, I went to Disneyland Paris. Was my first ever assignment. I still can’t talk about it. We behaved like animals.

I think you need to binge watch the films… at least three a day in the lead up to the trip. You’ll be so full of Disney love by the end of that! Also, picture of you in that onesie in front of the Disney castle please! #thatfridaylinky

I’m sure once you get there, the magic of Disney will just take over. Your little girls will be bursting with so much excitement and amazement when you’re there and you will feed off that as it’s infectious, I’m sure of it 🙂 Have an amazing time with your beautiful family and make lots of memories that you will cherish forever x

Fantastic onesie, Nige! I’ve promised a trip to Disney once the Little Man is a little older, but like you I’m a little apprehensive. My biggest fear would be spending our annual holiday queuing up for hours to get on to a two minute ride. Arrgh!
I’m interested in how you get on. Great post. Oh, and as for the modelling, don’t give up the day job!

Im not a fan of dressed up things, they’ve always freaked me since being a kid! But I’d still like to go one day.
In your case the magic will be seeing the enjoyment of it all on your family and you won’t be able to help but enjoy it too! #thatfridaylinky

I’m not a Disney person either, but the kids are starting to ask if we can go there one day so I feel your pain. Good luck!

I’m sure when you get there and see the wonder in your girls’ faces you will get swept along by the magic…and if all else fails just think of it as one ticked off the list!
My husband feels the exact same about Disney but I’m trying to convince him to take Leo there one day.
Thanks for sharing!

Oh Nige, this is awful. I can’t believe your beautiful family are inflicting this trip upon you. I actually feel so bad for you that I am more than willing to take your place and endure such a hideousness #ThatFridayLinky x

people tell me all the time that they are surprised that I love going to Disney as much as I do. Apparently I’m not exactly known for a sunshiney disposition. Love the onesie

Not a massive fan of Disney myself, just feels like a money making scheme and I hate it when they try to guilt trip you to spend with the whole magical idea that the memories are the best there and they won’t stay little for long. A comedian wrote about going to Disneyland Florida and he may as well dump £4000 into the bin haha X #thatfridaylinky

Ummmm Thats a tricky one with 2 little girls! I love the jumpsuit but I think glitter and tiaras may be the order of the day! You could get matching ones to really lift your spirits! LOL We were a bit “bar humbug” with the whole Disney thing but, believe me when I tell you -YOU WILL LOVE IT! have fun! #ThatFridayLinky

I’ve never been a massive Disney person. But I think you just need to find the right film – for me it’s less about the princesses and more about Cars and Toy Story.

Haha you will love it as the girls will. My hubby wasn’t a fan pre kids when we went to Florida but we are planning a trip back when Piglet is 3; I think it will be different as their joy will be his. Plus the rides are good. Have a good time and thanks for hosting xx

I think I would be as excited as your wife and when the children are older I plan to drag my husband along kicking and singing to all the disney songs. I bet you’ll have a great time when you get there! #ThatFridayLinky

Ha ha. I feel your pain. Disneyland isn’t my idea of a holiday either. I’d need a holiday when I got back to recover from the stress. Good luck getting in the Disney mood. I’m loving the onesie.

Haha! I love your efforts! I’m also not the biggest Disney fan, so share your lack of enthuasim for such places. Having said that I do hope to take our daughters one day – it seems so magical for children 🙂 #ThatFridayLinky

Nothing wrong with being a grumpy dad (from one to another!). Even if some aspects aren’t to your taste can you get enthusiastic about the music or some of the technology used? There’s bound to be some interesting food as well. That would do it for me! #ThatFridayLinky

Oh Nice the Grumpy onesie suits you!! As do the Mickey Mouse ears. Now we went to Florida for our honeymoon and ended up in Disney. I wasn’t quite into it for it to be my “dream” holiday but it was enjoyable. Once you get there you will love it… it’ll be just the look on your girls’ faces that’ll make you love Disney.

I usually have to whisper this but I feel safe here as you will understand… ‘I don’t get Disney either!!’ I really wish I did because I feel like I’m missing out. We do hope to take Little Man when he’s a little older, so I’m hoping it may work it’s magic on me. Until then, I just have to go along with it – a bit like you! Although I have to say, I haven’t gone as far as a onesie! Good on you though! 🙂 #thatfridaylinky

Ha! Not my ideal holiday either, but I reckon if you walk around with those ears on and that look on your face, they might just let you skip the lines out of pure fear! Enjoy it, I’m sure you will actually end up having a great time.

Love the tshirt and perhaps a Disney inspired superhero costume should be modelled next. 😉 My girls have yet to get into the whole Disney princess scene and drive their Dad crazy. He’d probably break out the Star Wars stuff. #ThatFridayLinky
