Brilliant Dad Feature week 53

This week our brilliant dad is Jack. He’s our first ever vlogger! Jack is 23 years old and a father of two. His daughter Indiana is just over 2 years old, and his son Parker is 5 and half months old. Their mum Emily and him got married in October last year. She is a blogger and they have their own Youtube channel based around their lives as a young family. They live in Kent where he works full time in a local nursery. They love to go on family days out and try not to waste weekends indoors. 1. Have you always wanted to be a dad?

I know I’m only young, but I’ve always wanted to be dad. It’s the only thing I have felt that I would ever actually be good at. I wouldn’t change it for the world. I love being able to run around and be completely silly with them and just have them giggle.  I do whatever I can to hear them laugh and see them smile. 

2. How did you feel when your children were born?

When they were both born I was a wreck. As soon as they came into the world I cried, more than they probably did. They were both very different labours, but the end result was this amazing, indescribable feeling. That I hate to say, you only know if you have children. 

3. What have been your most rewarding experiences so far as a Dad?

It’s hard to just pick one, but one of the top ones has to be the first time Indiana and Parker met. She came running in, saw him and just went “baby”. Since that day they have been inseparable. She is so caring with him, and his face always lights up when he sees her. He will just lay and watch her play and she will chat away to him. It was so funny seeing her learn his names well.  

4. What are some of funniest moments to have happened to you as a dad?

I have so many… I play hide and seek on a daily basis with my little girl just to get her to laugh. As well as having raspberry blowing fights with Parker. However something I will always remember, is a time I was playing with Indiana when she was around 5 months. I was laying down on the floor with her holding her up in the air. She was finding it funny and so was I. Then all of a sudden she threw up right on my face and in my open mouth. Instead of Emily helping, she laughed and took a picture! 

5. Have there been any situations with your children that you have found difficult to cope with? 

I have had a few of late if I am honest. Indie was always such a good sleeper whereas Parker has not been. We had one night recently where he was ill with a throat infections and chicken pox. He didn’t want to sleep in his own bed, or at all to be honest. So we had to take it in turns trying to get him to sleep. That was hard as you want to take his pain away, so he can sleep and so can you. There is nothing worse than seeing you children in pain.

6. What are your dreams and hopes for your children? 

Mine are simple. I want then to be with happy with whatever they chose to do in their lives. I hope they find someone like me and their mum have found each other. The last and very important thing for me, is for them to know they are loved, and always have been.
