Car Repairs? Here’s What You Are Missing!

May 30, 2017

A car is something that needs a lot of love – you can’t just let it slide into disrepair. Why? Well – firstly, a car costs enough to run as it is. You need to pay for the car (or the rental/lease costs), you need to buy the tax that allows it to be on the road. You need to ensure that the car is insured so that it is covered in the case of a motor accident. You also need to pay for fuel and for repairs. What’s the point of paying for all that stuff if you’re not going to look after the car? It needs your love so that you can make the most of your purchase.

You also need to ensure your car doesn’t fall into a state of poor maintenance for safety reasons. While driving on the road is relatively safe – you have to consider that things can happen on the road. Accidents can happen, and you increase your chances of being a danger to yourself, the passengers in your ride and others on the road if your car is running poorly.

You need your car in good condition if you want to get out on the road, you need it in good shape if you don’t want to waste cash. You need your ride in good condition if you want to be a safe and responsible driver. So, you want to ensure you are looking after your car; you might need to get your hands dirty with some maintenance – however, there are some areas of the car you might miss. It’s not all a change of tires and cleaning/waxing the hood! You can miss out on some important functions of the car if you pay too much attention to the surface.

While a tire change is important, you might need to go deeper to find the root of any handling issues. What about wheel alignment? Your tires need to be changed to stay on the road – that is true. If your wheels are wonky, your tires will wear out faster; it will affect the braking distance, it will damage your suspension and affect the handling. Get the car checked out by a highly trained technician if you notice anything different about the car and how it moves that cannot be immediately identified.

Like your body, cars need fluid to run. Firstly, they need petrol to burn so the engine can release energy to get a car moving. That’s obvious though. What a car truly needs – is oil. An engine is not a great environment for cleanliness and dirt can really affect how an engine works. For one, it stops the greasiness and flow of the engine, which means the pumps can create friction. Friction makes heat which overheats the engine! Get that engine oil changed for a clean and healthy car. Of course, you need coolant as well as antifreeze to regulate the temperature of the car throughout the seasons.

This is all without mentioning things like the spark plugs – so be careful, there’s a lot to car maintenance under the bonnet! It’s not all face value.
