Converting your Garage into a Playroom 

We have a very large garage which is a separate building to our house and in all honesty it’s a waste of space.     

I’m sure like many other people we don’t use the garage for what it was originally built for, parking the car in. It’s our dumping ground and consequently completly wasted space. So I decided instead of it just sitting there idle with no purpose other than dumping our rubbish like broken fridges and washing machines in, where they are left out of sight, out of mind. So I decided I would change it. 

I’m a dad of five children which includes four year old twin girls and the garage is set to one side of a very large garden and I really wanted to create a safe, friendly, colourful and imaginative area that is indoors to play in as well as being able to play  outside in the garden.

There are plenty of ideas available online to find what’s perfect for your children. I want it to be bright and very cheerful. 

My twin girls have very different tastes so it’s important to cater for both of their likes. M loves all things pink and princesses but on the the other hand R loves superheroes so in designing their new playroom it was important to incorporate both of these themes for them, but also making sure it looks good and doesn’t clash. 

The main idea of converting our garage into a playroom was to give the girls their own space and hopefully take a considerable amount of toys out of the house. Of course it can also be used as a place to change diapers.com

We will of course have to have an electric supply fitted and some form of heating. I was going to go for electric storage heaters as it will cut down on installation costs as they are free standing and can just be plugged in. 

Living in the UK where the weather is so unpredictable even in the summer it will be great to have a room in the garden that the girls can play in during the showers that we are guaranteed to have in the UK. 

So here is looking forward to many years of playing in and out of the garden and never having to really leave the garden.
