Days Out With The Family AD
We are now in the depths of autumn and this particular October has been appalling weather. I think it has rained just about everyday this month, which means getting out with the family for a fun filled day has truly come to a stop.
This all got me thinking about the summer that has just gone and the many different types of days out we had as a family. Our seven year old twin girls love to get out and about whether it be to the countryside, the beach, a safari park or even a theme park and of course this past summer was the first year that we went camping as a family.
I’m longing for next summer so we can start on our days out as a family again. Here are a few things that we did last summer and some ideas I already have for next summer.
1. Safari Park
This is, as a family, one of our favourite days out. The girls love it when you drive through a safari and get to see the wild animals such as lions up close. They are so in awe of all the animals and it’s magical to watch their faces.
2. The Beach
This is something that we did a few times last year. It’s always a winner with the girls as they get to build sandcastles, dip their feet in the sea and if I’m honest I love it myself. In fact quite often I can be found building a sandcastle on my own long after the girls have stopped and moved onto another activity. Haha!
3. Bike Ride
The girls will be eight years old next summer and the one thing I have been so keen to do is to go on a bike ride possibly along a river trail. We have one very close to us and I fancy doing a bike ride with a difference. Instead of bikes I really would like to go on a cycling day out on a tricycle, such as these tricycles from Jorvik Tricycles. It would definitely be more relaxing and I would even consider an electric one so I don’t get too tired.
4. Theme Park
The summer just gone was the first year that we went to a proper theme park with the girls. They loved it and it’s one that will definitely be on the cards next year. Hopefully they will be able to go on even more rides than this year as they will hopefully be a lot taller.
5. Mountain Walks
This year we went to a place called mountain view ranch and there was so much to do for the day with lots of country walks up and down the mountainside. It also had trails through woods where you could spot fairies and goblins and find unicorns. It was a fantastic place to get outdoors and show the girls that fun can be had outdoors and of course reduce their screen time.
We had a fantastic time throughout last summer going on day trips and have big plans for next year.
What day trips did you go on last summer? I would love to hear in the comments below.
