Decorating a bedroom with Laura Ashley wallpaper

January 16, 2015

I was recently employed to re-decorate a bedroom using Laura Ashley wallpaper in a semi detached house in a surbarban area.

It had been over 20 years since the room had last been decorated so it was in need of some help.
The first job was to remove all the old wallpaper which at different times had been emulsioned ove. This was a difficult job, but I used an earlex wallpaper steamer which reduces the time required to strip all the walls.

Once all the walls had been stripped I was able to make any repairs required and paint the ceiling in Dulux White Matt emulsion (2 coats).

The next part of the job was to prepare undercoat and gloss all the woodwork and all of the wardrobe doors. For this I used Dulux undercoat and gloss. The gloss colour was polished pebble which I had mixed up at the Dulux mixlab in Homebase.

Finally I hung the new Laura Ashley wallpaper up. The style of the paper was called Blyth – a striped effect. Laura Ashley paper is of a very quality making it very easy to hang and I would recommend the wallpaper to anybody.

The finished job had transformed a tired room to something which had a classical look.
