Enpowering My Daughters To Be Whatever They Want To Be 

I am a father of five which includes four daughters that range in ages from 21 down to 5  year old twins.

I worry about them because as much as I read about how equality for women is improving, it doesn’t seem to get any better. Not a day goes by without another incident of how women are unfairly dealt with in the workplace or in life in general.

There is always so much talk of equality for women, but they never really get it.

With four daughters I hope the world becomes a more equal world, although somehow I doubt it. It has taken generations to get to where we are now. Women finally are in important jobs and proving without question that they are as capable as men.

The problem with women having full equal rights and pay etc is men, and it certainly doesn’t help the cause when the most powerful country in the world elects a president that does everything in his power to demean women and make out they are basically second class citizens and shouldn’t have any rights.

This is really going to help women find equality, not!

My daughters I hope will able to lead their lives to fulfill their dreams and achieve all their goals without hindrance. My two oldest daughters are already in adulthood and most likely already experiencing the unfairness that exists in the workplace.

The other day I saw a report that a woman working for a large company had to wear high heels and was not allowed to wear flat shoes. Is her ability to do her job affected by what shoes she is wearing? Absolutely ridiculous and I would imagine that rule was made by a man.

My other two daughters are five year old twin girls and I am hoping that by the time they reach high school that society can come to terms with the fact that women can be brain surgeons, engineers or in fact hairdressers because there should be no boundaries or restrictions to women being able to achieve the highest level in whatever their choice of career is.

My five year old twin girls should be able to strive and know that they can be whatever they want. Of course time will tell if the world really will change. There are signs that women are more empowered than ever before and equality is moving forward.

I only hope it doesn’t go backwards which it so easily could.
