Four year old twins perception of money
Back to normal today after my possibly controversial post yesterday! Here’s a post about my four year old twin girls and their thoughts on money.
It has never failed to amaze me how a four year olds mind works and how they perceive things! I am lucky enough to have four year old twins to see it unfold in front of me.
The another day was my sons 17th birthday and I was talking to him about what he would like for his birthday. After a short discussion he decided he would like money, not really surprising, it’s what every self-respecting teenager wants! He asked how much he would get and I told him. He then replied, are you sure that’s ok? Before I had a chance to answer, M, one of the twins shouted out, “That’s ok A! We have plenty of money, no problem!”
OMG! Where did she get that from? A little bit frightening, but funny too!
This got me thinking. Do my four year old twins have any perception of where money comes from. The answer did surprise me a little.
I asked them where do you think money comes from. They replied Mummy and Daddy.
So I said, where do Mummy and Daddy get money? They replied you go to work. I was stunned to say the least!
How would they know that just aged four? Of course the obvious answer is they are starting to listen to us more and pick up on things we say.
On my sons birthday he opened his card and put the money to one side. This was notes of course. R looked at me and said is that note money daddy? Yes, I replied and then she said when do we get note money? When you are a lot older, I said!
Children of today are learning so quickly at times and it’s hard to keep up with them.

whenever mine is sad that I have to leave her to go to work I explain that's where the money to buy her stuff comes from. Seems to help her get over it very quickly
