Has society's attitude changed towards buy now pay later?

August 6, 2016

As a society are we still living on the credit card or have we finally realised that it’s not a clever way to live? As the saying goes, robbing peter to pay Paul.

Back in the nineties getting loans and credit cards with huge spending power was common place. It was easy to go online, fill out a few forms and a week later you would have a credit card with a £5000 limit. Before long you would have a selection of credit cards with similar credit limits.
Money was easy to get, but it wasn’t your money, and you had to pay it back. That’s where it got difficult. Living the dream on credit. I know plenty of people still trying to pay the dream off now!
Fast forward to today and I don’t believe it has really changed. In fact for young people I think it’s got worse. More and more young people are going to citizens advice bureau because of debt.
The question is are banks etc masking the way that they lend money and probably lending exactly the same on credit. I know I could easily get a credit card with a high limit without issue. I could get a payday loan. In fact getting credit for money, household items or whatever appears to me to be easier today than ever.
Yes I think society has changed, but for the worse. I believe people live on credit more than ever.
Would love to know what you think.
