Highlights when your a parent to 4 year old twins
We are parents of four year old twins and in all honest truth we get no help from family, which unfortunately doesn’t allow my wife and I any time to go out together.
I was thinking what are the highlights of our lives and do we yearn for more from our time.
It would be very nice to be able to lie in on a Sunday whenever you feel like it or go to the pictures or a meal on a whim, but this never happens for us.
We obviously love the girls and they are great fun to watch and play with, but sometimes it would be nice to have adult time.
Our only adult time starts around 6.45pm every night when the girls have gone to bed and our highlights of the day start. This may sound very sad.
During the week I look forward to Emmerdale, Corrie and Eastenders and an hour of Benidorm, but then come the weekend we have Ninja Warrior UK, Take me out and war and peace.
In having children and no help we are reduced to looking forward to tv shows!
The truth is it’s not that bad and we are completely accepting of our situation. In fact it’s strange when the girls are not with us as we have always done everything as a family.
I always find it incredible that people have children only to palm them off to family more times than they are with them. This is only a personal opinion, but if you have children surely the idea is to spend as much time as possible with them because time flies by.

I do actually agree. As nice as it is to have a few hours here and there to remember who I am as a person before a mummy, I never had a child with the expectation that everyone else would take care of him for me.
He is our life now and we want to share almost everything with him because we know the day will come that he will be too cool and grown up to hang out with us and then we have our time back.
Now is the time to enjoy them I say. 👍🏼
I’m not against them spending some time with family without me as they get to build their own relationships with him that way but I certainly know a lot of people that talk like they expect it of people to look after their kids. Strange isn’t it.
