How to add the finishing touch to your bathroom with accessories

August 10, 2016

Making over your bathroom can be fun, and it needn’t be expensive. Browsing online for new baths, shower units, taps and sinks can be pretty exciting, but quite often it’s the smaller things that are often over-looked.

Bathroom accessories can add character and style to your bathroom that you hadn’t thought possible. Sometimes it’s the little things that can make all the different to an otherwise ordinary bathroom.

I love the idea of having the ability to listen to my music whilst I’m in the shower, but I’m also aware that bringing my phone in and leaving it on the shelf, probably isn’t the best idea in the world. Knowing me, I’d end up dropping it on the floor or in the water!

I found a super cool idea online (pictured below). It’s a shelf that has an in built speaker. On the outside it looks like an ordinary shelf, but it has a hidden trait! A speaker! How cool would that be in your bathroom!

Another accessory the I like the idea of is a shower seat. Sometimes, after a long, hard day at work, standing in the shower can feel like an effort! I’m not the sort of person who has baths, so a shower seat would be a great way for me to rest my legs whilst enjoying a hot shower to ease the aches and pains of a days work.

Shower seats come in a variety of designs and you can choose from plastic ones or metal ones so there’s usually something to suit all budgets.

I also like the idea of having somewhere to keep all of our toothbrushes. Our twin girls, who are four years old, have a habit of leaving theirs in the sink or on the side of the sink and it does my head in! Not only do they end up getting toothpaste everywhere, it just looks untidy! A toothbrush holder that can be attached to the wall would be the ideal solution.

Talking of keeping things tidy, a corner basket would also be useful for keeping the kids bubble bath in, as well as my shaving foam can and shower gel. I hate it when I see bottles lined up on shelves and around the edge of the bath! I like the silver one in the picture above and as you can see the towel rail pictured alongside it goes well with it.

What bathroom accessories do you have or want in your bathroom? I’d love to hear from you in the comments below.

We had a wire basket in our shower for storage but it just got in the way! I love that shelf though!
