How to Put Your Own Stamp on a New Build

June 21, 2021

Buying a new build has a lot of advantages. While you may want to live in a new build for some of these advantages, you might also not be the biggest fan of some of the “cookie-cutter”-ness of these types of homes. If you want to put your own stamp on a new build, here are some tips to help you do so.

Work with the Company

Many companies allow you to begin to put your stamp on the property during the build process. By working with a contractor like Castle Green Homes, you should be able to put down the first few hints of an amazing space that could is entirely yours.

These small details can be as simple as choosing where you would like your light switches and power outlets, or you could get to select the flooring and wall colours used throughout the home. Some developers are more flexible than others. There are some who are happy to choose fixtures and fittings with you but otherwise hand over a blank slate, and there are others who are happier to customise your property a little more for you. Make sure you find out how far your contractor is willing to go!

Develop Your Garden

One of the quickest ways to put a stamp on your property is to develop the garden. Put some plants down out front and make things feel a little more welcome and inviting. Even if you are not prepared to tear up your front lawn quite yet, you can quickly make things look great with the introduction of some low-maintenance potted plants

However, it is out the back of the property where you can truly shine. Take whatever space you have and make it into somewhere you want to relax. Throw down your favourite plants, get some comfortable chairs, and turn it into your ideal space to chill out in.

Play with the Layout

Obviously, it might not be wise to go tearing out the fixtures that you have just paid to put in, but there is no reason why you cannot play with the layout of your new home a little. Bathrooms and the kitchen should stay put, but you can easily try something new with the rooms if you want.

Who says that that room upstairs has to be a bedroom? If it has the best views in the house, make it the living room! This is your home, and you have free rein to decorate it and arrange it however you may choose.

If you are moving into a new home, you should try to put a stamp on it the best you can. There are so many little changes that you could make to a home that will completely transform it and make it your own. Always try to create a space that you are happy to live in, regardless of whether it is a new build or a house that has stood for hundreds of years!
