I was recently employed to decorate a room in a first floor flat. It was in quite a state so was going to take a lot of effort on my part to please the customer.
The customer wanted the coving and ceiling painted white with all the woodwork in a satinwood finish. They also wanted wallpaper on all the walls.
The first part of the job was to install the coving which is very easy. The easiest way to do it is to first buy ready cut corners as this will save a lot of time and frayed tempers because cutting angled corners can be a nightmare! Ready made corners come two per pack in either outer or inner.
The best coving to use is decor light. It is light and very easy to install.
First install the corners and then simply measure the lengths to fit in-between. To stick the coving use something like no more nails to give instant grip.
The next part of the job was the ceiling which was a very uneven surface so I recommended wall doctor ceiling paper as it elimates the uneven surface, but remember with wall doctor you paste the ceiling not the paper.
The next part of the job was to paint all of the woodwork in Dulux quick drying satinwood finish.
The final part was to wallpaper all the walls with paper that the customer had supplied. It looked stunning against the white coving and skirting boards. The wallpaper had a fleck of glitter in the which was picked up beautifully in different lights.
Overall the coving gave a lovely finish between the wall and the ceiling defining the wallpaper but also showing off the ceiling.
