It’s Been A Crazy Six Weeks on the Blog

June 15, 2017

About six weeks ago I received a tweet to say I that I had been shortlisted for ‘Parent Blogger of the Year 2017’ with Blogosphere Magazine. I actually had to read it a few times to make sure it wasn’t a mistake!

Then I received an email about a month ago to say I was going to be featured in the June issue of the Blogosphere Magazine. Again it was very hard to take in that this was really happening, but yes it was! Pride and achievement come to mind.

Surely nothing else good could happen to my blog, but it kept coming at me! I was featured twice on the front page of the mumsnet bloggers network. This is mad! It’s crazy! That’s all I could think!

Then on Monday I received an email from Vuelio asking if I would like to take part in the bloggers spotlight feature. After thinking about it for two seconds I thought OMG! Yes please! I also knew that Vuelio’s list of UK Dad Bloggers 2017 was due to be released very soon. At the beginning of the year my one aim was to hopefully stay in this list that I entered for the first time in 2016.

Yesterday at about 10.55am I received a tweet to say I was featured on the blogger spotlight with Vuelio. This was a fantastic buzz, like seriously wow! Here is the link if you fancy a read.

Then at 11.00am I saw a link to the top 10 UK dad bloggers.

I opened it nervously, just hoping I was on the list. When I saw that I was the number two dad blogger in the UK my excitement was, well, being honest uncontrollable!

I truly didn’t know what to say or do for a few moments. I really felt as though I have arrived in the blogging world after all and that the hours spent writing and just trying to make my blog interesting to read had paid off.

When I started blogging two and half years ago I googled dad blogs and many of the names on this list appeared and I read and looked at them and thought one day maybe I will be alongside these awesome bloggers.

All of the blogs on the list are so very different. A couple of mentions for me are Dave at  The Dadventurer. He’s one of the funniest writers out there today and has on numerous occasions been a huge help to me.

Simon at man v pink. I love reading his posts, and he shares my passion for equality for women so our daughters grow up in a fairer world. Tim at Slouching towards thatcham. I met Tim recently at BlogOn and what a knowledge of blogging, if you want know anything Tim is the man to ask.

Finally the man who took the top spot is without doubt my blogging hero. Over the last couple of years his encouragement and support has never ceased to amazed me. I owe a debt of gratitude. Thank you John Adams at DadBlog UK. You being number one is totally deserved, well done mate. Congratulations to everybody else that made the list. It’s definitely worth checking out all the dads on the list here is the link.

Next Thursday I am attending the Blogosphere awards in London. Could it be the icing on the cake to what’s been an incredible six weeks or so. We will see, but I’m not holding my breath as I’m up against some fantastic bloggers.

My blogging journey has been incredible to say the least. I can only thank everybody that has ever taken the time to read one of my posts or featured me in some way or another. I am truly thankful.

Finally I would like to thank my wife Emily at Twin Mummy and Daddy who without I would never have started blogging. She’s helped and supported me all the way. I know it sounds cliche, but honestly my blog wouldn’t be where it is today without her. I love you honey, thank you.

What started as a hobby went beyond my wildest dreams. I have no idea where it will end, but it’s a fantastic rollercoaster ride.
