Leapfrog Epic Tablet Review. 

In today’s world technology is king and for my four year old twins it is without question their world. As they grow up they are bombarded with all sorts of technologies via television or the internet.

I am very aware in making sure that whatever new technology they see or want to use is safe and very importantly age appropriate. Quite often this can be be very difficult when they are left to play on their own.

So when I was recently sent the new LeapFrog Epic to review, I was over the moon. It is without question a brilliant tablet aimed at 3-9 year olds which is perfect because my girls are coming up to their 5th birthday.

The LeapFrog Epic is a very cool tablet that can be customised to your child. It’s home screen is very unique to them and they can change the homescreen whenever the mood takes them.

The homescreen is also something they can play with, as there is a ferris wheel that turns into an ice-cream van or a truck, plus they can add stickers and make it very individual to themselves which really helps to fire up their imagination and helps to make them use all their creativity.

The out of the box web, which is very safe, grows with your child when they are ready to learn and explore further. As a parent this is most important for me. You can set parental controls to always make sure what they’re doing on their tablet is for their age. Time limits can be set to make sure your child doesn’t stay on it too long watching videos or playing games.

Your children are in safe hands with the Epic because it grows with them and allows them to explore, play, imagine and create.

The LeapFrog Epic has 20 free apps and when you start to set up your tablet they can all be installed. In addition to this you also get to pick one more free game. If you have an existing LeapFrog account, as we do, you can link your new tablet to it and download all your previously purchased games and your child can continue to play some of their old favourites.
One thing about tablets like this is that many need game cartridges, but this is where the LeapFrog Epic is truly brilliant. All the games can be downloaded onto the device meaning there’s no more hunting around looking for game cartridges that the kids have lost! Hoorah!

The setup of the LeapFrog Epic is very easy. You just follow the on-screen instructions.

It has a 7″ screen which operates on an android system. The screen is multi-touch capacitive and it has a very generous memory of 16gb and can also be used with wi-fi.

The tablet has a weather forecast which is in real time which can be set to their hometown or anywhere in the world. Maybe they want to know what the weather is like in Spain and they can easily find out!

There is also a real time clock which will definitely help your child with learning how to tell the time. Everyday they will receive surprises which is always fun and a fantastic idea.

Tablets and toddlers don’t always mix especially when they are dropped, but the Leapfrog Epic comes with a silicone case to keep it safe from being damaged although the case can be removed if required.

My overall opinion of the LeapFrog Epic is that it will allow your child to explore, learn new things and educate them in new interests. This is something that they can decide by themselves. It has a very safe web browser allowing your child to explore so many new interests, but all the time you can make sure they are safe.

The LeapFrog Epic is easy use, very clear and has easy to understand icons for your child to have loads of fun and learning so much along the way.
