Making Sure My Mum’s House Is Safe After Having A Fall At Home
Recently my mum, who is elderly, had a very nasty at home fall and unfortunately broke her femur and her ankle. She has fallen before but never broken any bones. It’s usually been just bruising so she has recovered quickly.

Sadly this time with the nasty broken bones it has definitely affected her mobility. In fact, it has dramatically reduced her mobility. It has also had an effect on her confidence to live alone and this has consequently started to affect her independence.
For my mum who is a very strong character, living independently has always been very important. So after a long stay in hospital, I have decided that we need to alter her bungalow so that she can carry on living independently which I know will make her happy.
While browsing the internet for ideas and suggestions in making her home a safe environment I came across Complete Care Shop and it was without a doubt the solution I was looking for to make my mum’s house safe so she can live independently.
Who are Complete Care Shop?
Complete Care Shop are a supplier of daily living and mobility aids and have been doing this since 2007. They work very hard to supply the right equipment that elderly people need to live independently which consequently makes life easier. They also have access to a network of very experienced occupational therapists who can help with guidance and support on the Complete Care Shop website.
It’s not only products that they supply they can also offer a home living consultation service a specialist wheelchair home assessment and occupational therapist advice services.

For my mum this was something that I found very useful, because when you look around my mums home I don’t always see what it needs to make it a safe environment for my mum, so the home living consultation was an absolute must.
The biggest plus was the specialist wheelchair home assessment, because my mums mobility and stability while standing is now not very good at all. So for her to be safe in her own home a wheelchair is vitally important for her to get around. My mums strength is not as good as it used to be as she has got older so for a wheelchair to be beneficial it will need to be lightweight wheelchair which will be perfect for getting around her home and Complete Care Shop had exactly the right lightweight wheelchair the Enigma Ultra Lightweight Self-Propelled Wheelchair. It’s made from aluminium which obviously makes it very lightweight but doesn’t compromise the quality of the wheelchair. The perfect solution for my mum to be mobile and live independently for much longer.

When I came across Complete Care shop they were the answer to my mum living an independent life, in fact the aids that mum will be using will not take away her independence they will do the opposite to give her a greater freedom mobility in her everyday life.
