December 6, 2018

The world has changed so much and one particular area where it has changed beyond recognition is employment. Years ago if you were employed by a company the chances are it was a local company in your hometown, and you would spend your working life with the same company. That was the norm back in the day, but times have changed since then.

With companies now being global, it has given people the opportunity to move anywhere in the world to climb the employment ladder and improve their position within the company they are working for. Of course it may not be a permanent position, it might only be a secondment lasting maybe six or twelve months to give you the experience or training you need to do your job better in your home country.

This can of course cause issues with your possessions and your lifelong treasured items. So what do you do with them if you have to move abroad for a twelve month period?

You could store your belongings with friends or family by finding a good removals company who can put your mind at ease. Kent removals company is one such company that can help.

Alternatively, if you’re anything like me the last thing I want is for somebody else to move my treasured possessions. I want to do it myself. This means I would looking for a secure self storage company somewhere where I can handle and move all my own possessions and make sure that nothing is broken, but also somewhere where I can do it quickly and easily.

It’s really important that when you leave all your possessions somewhere that it’s secure. This is because your job is going to take you to another country and it’s those irreplaceable, treasured items that have so many memories meaning you need to know that when you eventually come back you have the peace of mind that everything is still ok.

The world is getting smaller as people move from country to country, and as many companies are now global, we have to move with those situations if we want our career to advance. However that will often mean leaving our possessions behind. You may own a house that will need to be rented or you may already be renting, and after all there is only so much room in our parents home to leave our possessions!

Here are three tips if you need to put your treasured items into storage.

1. Always make sure they are a reputable company and look for reviews to find out a little bit more about the company you are going to leave all your worldly goods with.

2. It’s vitally important that the company you decide to use has 24/7 security, as well as the usual things like security guards and CCTV is in place to protect your possessions.

3. Finally, always make sure that the area where you are storing your possessions is under cover and protected from the weather so that there is no chance that any of your treasured items can be damaged.

It may turn out that the secondment that you thought was only for twelve months turns out to be permanent and you decide to transport all your possessions to where you are making your new home. The peace of mind you will have is because you stored your own possessions they will be in exactly the same condition as when you left them.

Have you ever had to store all your possessions because you had to go away to work for a six or twelve month contract? I would love you hear your experiences.
