Making Your Child’s Bedroom Their Very Own

Making your child’s bedroom unique and different nowadays is so much easier than it was when I was a child, and that’s mainly because of the availability of different types of beds that will suit all children’s personalities, characters and ages. Of course, the options you have available will be limited by the size of the bedroom. 

My twin girls will be turning eight years old in a few months time and they share a bedroom. That’s not going to change anytime soon because we only have two bedrooms in our home. That’s why it’s important that within their bedroom they each have a bit of space they can call their own.

So my task was first to find beds that would fit in their bedroom. I didn’t want the beds to dominate the bedroom. While I was browsing the internet looking for ideas, I came across a range of kids beds at the Children’s Bed Shop. They have numerous options that offer a practical solution for the girls to share a bedroom but also give them each enough space to call their own. I was also looking at the long term and as scary as it may seem it won’t be long before they are in high school and I knew they would need a quiet space to do their homework.

So here are a few different bed types that I thought would suit the girls’ bedroom.

1. Bunk Beds

When there is a limited amount of room in the bedroom bunk beds are a fantastic option. They free up so much room for you to have a desk where the girls can do their homework or read. Of course the only downside is getting the girls to agree on a fair way of sharing the top bunk! It seems all children must have the top bunk so I’m thinking it will be done on a rota system!

2. Beds With Storage

If a room is limited then a cabin bed with storage draws underneath is perfect for your children’s clothes or toys. For that matter anything you want to store away which in turn will free up space in the bedroom for your children. You can also get a high cabin bed that has an inbuilt wardrobe and possibly a desk area. This is perfect for your child as they grow up.

3. Themed Beds

When you are designing a bedroom, it is important to think about your child’s personality and the things that they like. Sometimes, a themed bedroom that revolves around one of their key interests can really capture their imagination. A themed bedroom is perfect for younger kids and the availability of beds in all shapes and sizes means it is easier than ever before to create a great space for an affordable price. A bed that is a car is just awesome to a five year old and you never know it might actually get them to stay in their own bed all night. The options nowadays are unlimited. It could be that your child loves tractors, cars, pirates or princesses. The choice is awesome and of course this makes their bedroom very unique to them. It is their place.

So whatever the age of your child or the size of their bedroom you can make it a fantastic place that your child can call their very own.
