My 6 Year Old Twin Girls First Visit To The Circus
Yesterday we took our six year old twin girls to the circus. Somewhere they haven’t been before, and if I’m honest, it’s many a year since I have been to the circus.
The last time I went to the circus, there was quite a selection of animals, but it appears those days have gone. Nowadays it’s more acts such as tightrope walking and the wall of death. It certainly has changed and evolved over the years.
The circus we went to is Circus Vegas. It’s a is very American themed circus with lots of showgirls and heavily accented on Elvis.
The girls were really excited about going and we arrived early to make sure we had the best seats possible.
The show started with showgirls and Elvis arrived in the centre of the big top with lots of fog, strobe lighting and loud music. A perfect formula for a great show!
They started with some great acts, and then one of mine and the girls favourites arrived in the centre. The wall of death. I have never seen this live, I’ve only ever seen it on tv. So it was quite a shock how noisy it was and I actually never realised how fast they ride the motorbikes inside the cage. The girls were glued to the action! It’s actually very tense watching it and you are on the edge of your seat. Awesome act.

We saw lots of acts including quick change artists and the strongman, a hulu-hoop artist and many more, but a couple of highlights had to be the the men in a giant gyroscope which was going at tremendous speed, and the tightrope walking was without question amazing. It takes so much skill and balance and all done without a safety net.
Easily one of the most enjoyable parts for the girls, and both my wife and myself was the clown. He would fill the gaps between the artists performing, and at one point he got me involved catching popcorn in my mouth! He was very funny and kept the circus rolling with interruption, which is so important with children, because they don’t have the patience to wait. The clown, Eddie, was easily my favourite part.
We all had a fantastic time and it was a two hour show and was worth every penny, for nothing else other than to watch the girls faces light up at some spectacular talent and the many things the circus people did.
As I have said it has been quite a while since I have been to the circus and the first time for the girls, but we all had a brilliant time. Even though there were no animals it made up for it with daring and exciting acts and I would definitely go back next year.
