R and M’s fourth birthday party

February 29, 2016

The girls birthday was yesterday, but they had their party on Saturday with approximately 25 of their friends attending who were mostly from their nursery class. We must be mad!

We hired our local church hall and hired a bouncy castle and soft play from a local company.
We arrived at the hall at 1pm to set up all the food and tables, and the bouncy castle company arrived at the same too, ready for a 2pm start. I think you always worry if you have made enough food, but once it was on the table it was more than ample to go around.
The girls were very excited and to be honest it had already been a very long day up until that point as my wife and I had spent the morning making the food.
By 2pm the children started to arrive and the hall filled up very quickly. The kids started to play with all the soft play and of course the bouncy castle too, but the girls and their sister were the first to bounce on the castle before anyone arrived!

The girls received a lot of presents, which I think overwhelmed them quite a bit, but they definitely enjoyed the attention!

After about an hour I made an announcement that the food was ready and could all the children move into the next room to eat. My goodness it was like a stampede! I’m pretty sure they were hungry!
R and M sat at the top table and were definitely now the centre of attention. Still why not? It’s their birthday after all!
As the food finished I got the cake ready, which was made by my wife with such love, and I lit four candles. Everybody sang happy birthday to the girls and they promptly blew out their candles.

Finally the party ended with about 20 minutes of play and party bags being handed out to all the children by R and M.
The girls had a fantastic time and loved every minute of it.
As mentioned earlier, yesterday was the girls actual birthday and it was a very chilled day. The girls got to open their presents from Mummy and Daddy and then spent the rest of the day with family, followed by a birthday tea with lots more singing of Happy Birthday. It was a lovely way to spend their birthday.
