Specsavers eye test and frame review.

July 26, 2016

Over the last few months I have noticed that when reading and writing posts on my phone it has become a little more difficult for me to see clearly what I’m doing. My phone seems to be getting further away from eyes in order for me to try to focus on what’s on the screen. This is something I’ve never had happen before. I’ve never needed glasses, but I realise now that the time has arrived.

When I was contacted by Specsavers to do a review of their eye test (normal price £20) and also a new set of glasses the timing was perfect!
I rang to make an appointment and the lady that answered was very helpful and tried to make sure my appointment fitted around my very heavy work schedule. I made an appointment for 3.00pm on a Wednesday.
I arrived a little bit early, thinking that I would have to wait and that was ok after all I was the one that was early! I was greeted at the door and immediately allocated to a Specsavers consultant. She was very polite and initially took some details about me.

After that I was taken to a side room where a couple of tests were carried out. One test was to check the pressure in my eyes which was a strange feeling having air blasted into my eyeball! It didn’t hurt though! The other was to stare at an image of a hot air ballon going in and out of focus which checks the health of your eyes.
Once that was finished I was taken upstairs for my appointment with the optometrist. I was very impressed by the way the staff direct you all the time and you are really never alone. They also keep you informed every step of the way.
Within minutes the optometrist ask me into the room for my eye test. Like all the other staff she was polite, very informative and guided me through the test expertly.

The test was very comprehensive and used all the latest technology to determine the right lens for my eyes. It was very cool seeing my eyeball on a computer screen! That was a first and a great picture to show my children! Haha!

When she had finished a frames consultant called Simon entered the room to take me downstairs to pick my frames.
I had seen a particular shape of glasses that I liked in the GANT range online, so Simon showed me lots of different frames, but the first pair I tried on I was sold on immediately and wanted those ones!
Specsavers have a fantastic two for one deal so I was able to chose another pair from the GANT range.

The first pair I chose were the round pair, and the second pair were more square.

We then sat down and he measured my head to make sure the glasses fitted perfectly and this did take quite a bit of time, but after a few adjustments the glasses felt very comfortable.
I was offered a same day service on the glasses, but this didn’t suit me as I had a prior engagement, so I arranged to pick them up in a couple days of time.
On my return a couple of days later my glasses were ready to go. I tried them on to make sure they fitted ok and I was good to go!

My overall opinion is that Specsavers is an excellent place to get your glasses and eyes tested. They are very friendly and it is a very quick, but complete service. All the staff make you feel at ease and are very informative. I would not hestitate to recommend Specsavers to family and friends. Thank you!
For the purpose of this review I was given a voucher to cover the cost of eye test and new frames.
