Taking a Break Over Christmas 

I’m a self employed painter and decorator. It is very difficult, especially during the summer months to get any time off work, but during the winter and especially leading up to Christmas work generally gets less manic and busy, so it gives me the opportunity to have some time off to enjoy family time.

I generally don’t work the week before Christmas, because the fact of the matter is who wants a decorator in their house that close to Christmas and I fully appreciate and understand that.

The week between Christmas and new year I don’t work at all. I consider that my annual leave.

This all got me thinking though that nowadays I seem to have three jobs that I juggle into my hectic lifestyle. The first, which I have already spoken about is my occupation as a painter and decorator. This pays the bills and affords us a pretty good lifestyle such as holidays etc.

The second, although it’s not a job in a traditional way, but nonetheless is an important part of my life, is as a stay at home dad part time on the days that my wife works which is two days a week.

Finally something that at times feels like a job because if can get very busy is my blog. Nowadays  I have had opportunities through my blog that I never thought possible 12 months ago, and of course it takes time to achieve this. It’s certainly not a full time job, but it takes a lot of my time I have posted over 400 posts this year on my blog and that is a lot of writing. Hopefully somebody somewhere has enjoyed it.

I got thinking that I also need a rest from daily blogging for no other reason other than I need a rest! For this reason I’ve decided not to publish anything in the week between Christmas and new year. Basically I need a break  from tweeting sharing and all the other joys of blogging that is required to get your content out there to hopefully be read.

I’m not disappearing from any of my jobs, I’m just having a break, which if I’m honest with myself I think I deserve. My job as painter and decorator this year has probably been my most successful and busy year ever, and I’m looking forward to January to continue and watch it grow.

My blog is beyond my wildest dreams. I have worked with amazing brands this year and achieved things that when I look back to when I started I would never have thought it possible.

I would like to take this chance to thank everybody that has read my ramblings about life and family, all the dads that have appeared on the brilliant dad feature and all the bloggers that link up  to that FRIDAY LINKY. Anybody that has ever left a comment on my posts, it means the world to me that you have taken the time to write a comment about something that I have written. It truly is appreciated.

I’m looking forward to not looking at my phone, my inbox or anything else related to blogging. Just having some lovely family time without distractions. Who knows I may enjoy it that much and not come back!
