Twins start nursery next week

The dread and fear of our three and half year old twins starting nursery was actually quite overwhelming. All I could think was that they are so little and that they seem so young. 

We have spent quite a few weeks preparing them for nursery by reading them books all about nursery and I actually think this has been good for them. We have also regularly talked to them about starting nursery, but the truth is nothing can prepare them for being left there without mummy and daddy.

This is without doubt my biggest fear because they have never really been apart from us so I have no idea how they will cope in that moment when we turn and walk away. 

Both the girls are ready to find a little independence and develop their social skills and they are without question ready to learn and nursery will be incredibly good for them. 

For me the last three and half years have flown by. I can remember vividly bringing them home from hospital after six weeks in special care and in a weeks time I will be sad, but I’m also happy that they are growing up and starting their journey through school. 

On a plus side at the end of September I will take over two days a week as a stay at home dad and I am really excited about taking them and picking them up from nursery and when they come out listening to all their adventures and telling me all about their friends in that wonderful way that only children can do with total excitement!

I suppose I will have to accept that our babies are now little girls embarking on their very own adventure.
