What Chance Do My Kids Stand In This Messed Up UK 

I would like to first of all say I am no political expert, in fact I’m not even close, but of course that doesn’t allow me not to have an opinion on the current mess I feel the UK is in.

In the last year we have have just about had everything you can imagine thrown at us. Of course it started with the referendum on whether we stay a part of the EU. Just for the record, I voted to stay and be a part of the European Union. I will give my reasons why later in this post. After the referendum David Cameron did a runner and left a big mess that he intiated by promising this referendum to win votes at the last general election. Of course he was quickly followed out the back door with his henchman George Osborne.

So the UK opted to leave the EU. I believe this is a massive mistake and already it’s starting to tell as prices in the shops start to rise. It’s very noticeable in our food shop. My belief is people in power believe that we are still the empire. Sadly we are not a small country that needed Europe to make us strong. Leaving Europe will affect everything for our children from trade to jobs and travel, as well as the ability to work anywhere in the EU. The reality is that the EU will be offering no special deals, they don’t need us, we need them. The decision to leave the EU will affect our children and generations to come unfortunately in my opinion not in a positive way. 

So just the other day Theresa May called a general election. Oh I wonder why! Nothing of course to do with her apparent lead in the polls and the fact that there appears to be no opposition. I hope for her that it doesn’t back fire because British people can at times be fickle. I think the lib dems will win a lot of seats back now that Nick  Clegg has gone and of course it’s very possible that the SNP will have total domination in Scotland which will possibly force a referendum there with a big possibility of Scotland leaving the UK. Northern Ireland? Well, it’s a mess. They currently don’t have a government. Wales, that’s my home turf,  just does what Westminster tells us to do. For me I will be voting Labour and for Jeremy Corbin. The reason is simple I believe he is honest well at least as honest as a politician can be. He stands by his principles, a rare commodity in British politics. 

The UK is now a divided nation and after June 8th it could easily be fractured beyond repair.

So where does this leave my children who are just starting out in life? For me it’s a frightening experience for them. My older children, will they ever be able to buy a house or will they forever be in the renting cycle? Will their wages increase to a level that is acceptable and allow them to live a reasonably comfortable life? Will they be able to cross borders to work or will that become a thing of the past? Is this the UK of the future where health and education will cost so much people will die and never be in the education system? Will the weathly will rule again?

In the last year a mad man was elected as president of the US and he is now in charge of the most powerful country in the world. This man holds no respect for anything or anybody and could easily start a nuclear war with his gun-ho attitude. Extremely worrying. Hopefully he won’t see out his term in office and some common sense can return to the White House.

Regular readers will know I have five children and I fear for their future in the UK. As much as I want them to stay close. I would recommend they live in countries that can offer them a better quality of life with more prospects and good wages that keep up with the cost of living.

I have for the most part always lived in my home town in the UK, and for the most part the UK has been a good country to live in a comfortable lifestyle, but my children are faced with a very uncertain future in a country that has no direction or togetherness. We are divided like no other time in our history. Can it be put right? Unlikely I think.
