Cutting Household Bills Without Jeopardising Your Family’s Health
One thing which can often lead families into debt is household bills. After all, everything from heating bills, council tax, and water bills can lead us scrimping and saving to get by. But obviously, these things are important for our family to lead a happy and healthy life. However, while you can’t go without heating and water, there are some ways you can reduce the cost of the bills. In fact, here is how to cut household bills without jeopardising your family’s health.
Be wiser with water
It’s so easy for a family to use too much water on a daily basis. After all, with everyone needing to use the water to get ready in the morning and night, it’s easy for your bill to end up reaching the skies. But if you want to reduce it, it’s time to be wiser with your water. For example, skip the baths which can use a tonne of water. Encourage the kids to have showers instead to save some water usage. Just make sure they aren’t in there forever, so they don’t waste water! And instead of always being tempted to use the dishwasher, take turns to do the dishes instead. After all, it saves some water and can teach your children some responsibility too!
Get a new boiler
It’s essential that you maintain a warm temperature in the family home. After all, you don’t want your kids to end up getting colds as the house is freezing. But as you will know, heating bills can often break the bank. Therefore, you should look into getting a new boiler. After all, if you are getting high bills, it might mean your heating isn’t running efficiently. So with a new combi boiler, you can ensure you have the best heating system for your family. Not only this but a lot of these new boilers come with handy thermostats. That way, you can adjust it accordingly as the weather changes. After all, some days you might need less heating than others. You can even get a smart system which will allow you to change the heating from your phone! So you can even do it before you get home for work. And remember to not always rely on your boiler. You should use other methods like underfloor heating and fireplaces to save some money on your heating bill.
Be more energy-efficient with your lighting
A lot of families could actually be making energy-efficient changes to their household that could save them some money. For one thing, you should make sure you are using eco-friendly lighting. That way, you can still enjoy lighting in your household while saving money. And not only this, but they will last a lot longer too so you won’t have to shed out for new ones all the time! And if your kid insists on some light at night, get them an eco-friendly night light. A lot of these can be charged up and then are left on during the night to ensure you don’t waste more money having the main light on for hours. In fact, you can look online for some examples of eco-friendly night lights for your kid.
And don’t leave plugs on unnecessarily. Go around your home before bed and turn off ones you aren’t using!

We used to get our water capped which meant that we could use as much as needed without an enormous bill this was because as a stroke survivor I can’t stand under a shower so need to use the bath daily sadly the water board no longer allow this so we take great care with the water we use
