Converting The Basement In Your Home AD
There are many types of conversions that you can add to your home. It could be that you are looking for a loft extension, a conservatory or two story extension for the side of your home to maybe give you an extra bedroom and a breakfast area in the kitchen with a utility room. Of course all these types of conversions really only apply to new build homes. Most houses built in the last 50 years don’t have a basement.
Of course if you go back 100 years and think of the very large houses of the rich in our major cities, all of them had a basement, and as we all know the basement was where the servants would live and prepare all the food and everything else for their rich employers.
Times have now changed and nobody has servants anymore, but as many of these houses were sold on, many families would buy them and the truth be known the basement would be a room used for storage. It was just somewhere to put things that would stay out of sight and most likely be forgotten about. A terrible waste of a room that could have multiple amounts of uses.
You could of course use a basement for say a children’s play room. It would be perfect, but converting the basement has to be done perfectly otherwise you could face many problems. Many basements suffer from a lack of gravity so one thing that would be vital to install is a macerator station and you can find a fantastic selection at JT Pumps.
I bet you are wondering what a macerator pumping station is. Well let me explain. Many basements won’t have any gravity to remove the sewage to the main sewer and this is where a macerator pump is used to make sure all the sewage is removed safely and properly to the main sewer. Most importantly if you have no idea exactly what you need then you need to speak to the experts and that’s where JT pumps are perfect they will talk you through exactly what you need.
How does the macerator pump work?
When you have a basement conversion and you have had a en-suite and toilet fitted, you need to make sure the sewage is removed to the main sewer line. This is where a macerator pump system is perfect, making the sewage into a liquid before removing it to the main sewer, and because it is a liquid that reduces the chances of any blockages, some units also work automatically so you don’t have to get involved
It’s a fantastic place to convert the basement into a children’s playroom. You can also add a toilet, sink and even a shower area which means you won’t have to keep coming back upstairs if the kids need the toilet. It will be totally self contained and as your children grow up and when they become teenagers maybe one of them will decide they would like it as their bedroom and having an en-suite in there will be perfect for them and of course it will be a great place to have their friends around for say a night of gaming and they have a little privacy with their friends.
Converting the basement is an ideal way to gain more room in your home, but it’s also important to make sure it’s done exactly right.
