In today’s world we are now more aware than ever before about pollution and how it’s harming our planet and yes, as individuals we can help reduce the pollution as a collective of people, but of course this is going to take a lot of work, and effort from governments around the world.

This actually got me thinking about what the air quality is like inside our home, and how much of the pollution in the outside world is also polluting the air inside our home, so when I was approached by Foobot to try out and review their air quality monitor, I thought yes, that would be awesome to monitor the air that as a family we are breathing in because we can spend up to 90% of our lives indoors.

What is the foobot?

The foobot is an indoor air monitor that shows you what the air quality is like in your home, and depending on what it is like, it will tell you if you need do something to improve the air quality in your home.

How Does The foobot Work?

The foobot doesn’t actually identify the precise reason why the air in your home is not of a good quality, but if the air quality is not good in your home this will tell you that something is affecting it, and you can then go about trying to identify the problem. That could possibly be adding some plants to your home or changing the detergent you are using.

Setting Up The foobot

The foobot was really simple to set up. Just plug it in, connect it to the wi-fi in your home and download the app which is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play for free. Everything you need to do to set up the foobot is done via the app. That really is it. You will then have to wait a few days for your foobot to adjust to your home using the sensors which are in built to the device. At this point the foobot is fully operational.

What does the foobot measure in your home?

1. Gas pollutants

This will track volatile organic compounds and is particularly sensitive to carbon monoxide. It also measures levels of benzene, methane and ammonia. A lot of which can be produced by furniture, paint and cleaning detergents.

2. Particulate Matter

The foobot can measure fine particles from 0.3 to 2.5 um with a low latency detection which are usually caused by cooking, fumes, pollen and dust mites.

3. Temperature

Temperature is very important in your home as this can play an important role in regulating the indoor air quality.

4. Humidity

A high level of humidity can directly affect the amount of allergens and bacteria in the home, but a low humidity can weaken our bodies against bugs and viruses.

5. CO2

The foobot calculates the amount of CO2 in your home via the sensor.

6. Outdoor Pollution

You can also compare the outdoor pollution to the pollution in your home.

An LED light displays the air quality in your home in real time. Blue is good. Orange is bad. Very simple.

At all times you can look at your app to find out the exact data in relation to your air quality around your home.

If the pollution ever goes above the threshold you will receive a notification via the app.

The foobot is quite simply genius. It allows you to take control of the quality of the air in your home. By controlling the air in your home the healths benefits are enormous. It reduces allergies and asthma, plus many other conditions. I suffer from migraines so if I can improve the air in our home, it could reduce the amount of headaches and migraines I suffer from then it has to be good.

The foobot identifies issues of pollution in your home and that is a fantastic help so that you can then remove them and improve the air quality in your home, which will keep your home healthy for the whole family.
