Giving Your Home Character With MDF Skirting Boards
When you move into a new home there is no doubt that you want to put your stamp on it. We all want to decorate and style our homes so that it’s individual to ourselves and so that it will also show your personality and character.

When people visit you in your home everybody loves to hear a compliment about the wallpaper you have chosen or the colour of paint you have used on the walls. So when you are upgrading and changing your new home to suit your style, it’s also very important to pay particular attention to the little things such as skirting boards. There is no point in having a beautiful wallpaper or a perfectly painted wall looking stunning for you to only look down and see scruffy and poorly looked after skirting boards.
Nowadays there is no reason why you can’t have the perfect MDF skirting board for your home. Whether it’s a new build or an older period house that you’re looking for, skirting board is more in keeping with the period that the house was built. While I was browsing online for skirting boards I came across skirting boards from Metres Direct and the selection of styles that they had was perfect for me to decide exactly what I wanted.
My home is about 70 years old and like most homes of a certain age they need updating on a regular basis and mine is no different. Over the years the original fixtures have been changed usually to the fad of the day, so my plan is always to try and bring it back in line with what was originally fitted such as the skirting boards.
When the house was built the skirting boards were Regency Ogee style skirting boards which are now available in MDF so it was relatively easy for me to replace the skirting boards and bring the house back to its original look.
What makes MDF skirting boards a perfect solution for finding that classic authentic look for your home and of course they’re easy to source from Metres Directs who have a very extensive range. So whatever style you are looking for whether it be modern or period they can be found online nowadays. The MDF skirting boards have so many advantages. They come pre-primed so they were easy to paint and most importantly east to fit. They don’t have any knots in the wood that will need treating and this will give a perfect smooth look to your skirting boards.
So if you are replacing the skirting boards in your new build or an older home, MDF skirting boards are a perfect way to give a beautiful finishing touch to all your other decorations.
Do you or have you used MDF skirting boards? I would love hear what your thoughts are in the comments below.
