How Far Would You Go To Fulfill your Children’s Christmas lists?(Hatchimals)

Christmas brings out the child in me. It really is the best time of year, especially if you have small children. 

Watching them slowly build in excitement actually makes me laugh with joy that they can believe so much in Father Christmas. 

Writing their Christmas lists, posting them and then telling anybody that will listen to them! 

Our girls make the effort to list everything they have asked for! There was one overriding request though, and that is the almost impossible to get, Hatchimal!

As parents the last thing we want to see is a disappointed four year old on Christmas morning. So, my wife decided to go on a mission to get Hatchimals!

Please keep in mind that we have twins and we needed two of the most sought after toys this Christmas!

Late night trips and early morning calls to Tesco all ended in disappointment. My wife had stock alerts set up on her iPhone and if I’m honest she had Hatchimals on the brain 24/7!

The determination to succeed was awe inspiring! That her girls will not be let down! That Father Christmas will deliver!

Finally a visit to Tesco at about 10am gave her hope ,and hopefully would shut her up talking about Hatchimals!

The store assistant said they were due in that day and she took my wife’s phone number and said she would put them behind the customer service desk and ring my wife when they are there.

A very tense few hours was ahead of us and even I was getting nervous! We didn’t actually think that the lady would call!

Then around 2pm the phone rang. My wife didn’t recognise the number, but this was the moment that our Christmas would have its defining moment!
YES! YES! YES! The store had put two Hatchimals behind the customer service desk! I sprung into immediate action driving to Tesco which took about 10 minutes! 

On arriving, I parked the car and my palms were sweating! Nerves were fraught and I kept thinking what if they had given them to somebody else? What if they hadn’t kept them?

On arriving at customer services I explained what I wanted and they asked what name were they were put under. For a split second I forgot my wife’s name!

Then all of a sudden, there they were! In a cardboard box, two Hatchimals! The relief and at the same time the europhia that  success was achieved in hunting down the elusive Hatchimal!

I walked out of Tesco clutching the Hatchimals tightly under my arm as if they were gold bars! Once in the car, I placed them on the back seat and covered them! That gives you some idea of the value my wife had put on them! I didn’t want to be the one that lost them. 

My wife had become obsessed with Hatchimals! She was determined to get them, and would go to any lengths to buy them! In fact I think at one point she tried to swap me on eBay for just one Hatchimal!

The story doesn’t quite end there though! The Hatchimals are pink and regular readers of my blog will know that my twins are a superhero and a princess.

R really hates pink with a passion, so the hatchimal hunt is still on for another colour, although I’m not holding my breath!

The nicest part of the story is that your faith in human nature is reinforced that people are kind and good. My wife had never met the store assistant in her life, but the lady went the extra mile to help and make our twins Christmas. 

How far would you go to get the toy your children want for Christmas? I love to hear
