How The Covid Pandemic Has Changed How I Manage My Personal Finances

April 21, 2021

The last year has meant lots of fundamental changes to our lifestyles. This of course has been due entirely to the global covid pandemic that has swept across the world and unfortunately continues to sweep across the globe as many countries are experiencing second and third waves of covid transmission.

As many countries experienced their economies come to a complete halt, this in turn has impacted businesses across the world and consequently has started to have a dramatic effect on the populations of countries. Many people started to have their hours of work cut and in more severe cases many people started to lose their jobs as it became unviable for companies to stay open. All of this had a knock on effect on people’s personal finances.

The pandemic has definitely made me look very closely at my own personal finances and how I can afford to not only live but also be able afford some new items that have needed to be changed for a while.

One particular item that we need to change in our home is our car. My twin girls are now nine years old and growing at a rapid rate. Currently we have a small car and this needs to be upgraded to a larger car that will give us all more room, but also a bigger car that we will be able to fit all our camping equipment for our camping trips that we take during the summer months.

This of course is going to be quite a big financial commitment and I will need some help to make sure I can afford it and it doesn’t put us under any pressure financially. When browsing online I came across a really helpful website called Calculator Me. If you ever needed to get a loan for the purchase of a new car then Calculator Me can help you work out exactly what your repayments will be on a car loan. This is really helpful because then you are able to work out what type and model of car you can look at.

Finding the right car auto finance is very important and there are a number of things that you need to keep in mind such as if your credit score is good then you will be more likely to be accepted for a car loan agreement. If you have a deposit or you are trading in a vehicle then this will reduce the size of your loan and again will make you more acceptable for a car loan. Finally make sure whichever car loan arrangement you go for that you check out the interest rates as these can vary dramatically.

Personal finance has become something that all of us are probably thinking a lot more about since the the global pandemic. This is because the threat of losing our jobs or reduced working hours is a very real factor nowadays. Thankfully there is so much help online to help us get control of our personal finances.

Have you struggled financially during the pandemic? Did you have to re-organise your personal finances? I would love to hear your experiences in the comments below.
