Making The Most Out Of Your Garden This Summer

Your garden, I believe should be enjoyed during the warm summer months, especially if you live in the UK, where the sun can disappear as quickly as it appears.

I have always try to minimise the amount of work that is required in the garden. After all I’d rather spend my time playing with the kids in the garden, or sunbathing. Actually there is no chance of that with six year old twins. All I ever hear is “Dad! Come over hear! Let’s play this game or football!” It’s never ending. Sunbathing? Not a chance haha!

With my job of painting and decorating I get to see lots of gardens. The one most noticeable thing that I have seen change over the years is that people are now having artificial grass installed. I instantly think to myself what a brilliant labour saving idea. I personally dislike with a passion mowing the lawn, especially during summer. It seems like you are doing it every few days because of course grass grows so quickly during the summer.

Even when you have cut the grass it never looks that good. Well, in our garden it doesn’t because of all the weeds that are growing within the garden. Also our back garden is full of clay so just a little bit of rain can leave puddles which consequently creates mud baths.

This year I want to enjoy our garden as much as possible, but without having to spend hours maintaining it. Quite a bit of our garden is already patio so that cuts down on maintenance.

All of this, of course, will give us the opportunity to enjoy fun in the garden as well as bbq’s and getting the paddling pool out for my six year old twin girls.

I have already reduced the flower beds and borders so I don’t have to worry about constantly weeding, and I’ve decided to have lots of planters of flowers in full bloom and these will also require little maintenance.

I’m hoping this year to sort out the lawned area of our garden, and the perfect solution is artificial grass, and I can finally put our lawnmower away forever and not have to spend hours mowing the lawn. Happy days! I can just enjoy summer with the family.
