Smart Couples Don’t Have To Pay Out The Nose To Get Married
You love each other and you’re ready to take the biggest step of your respective lives. But you’re also a smart couple that knows that having a bit of cash after the wedding might be a lot more important than spending tons on the occasion itself. So, what are some of the traditions worth breaking in order to actually enjoy having two pennies to rub together once you’re back from the honeymoon?
Plan it yourself
A wedding planner can be a great help in plotting out a course that helps you get through all the vendors, all the venues, and all the bits and bobs that make the wedding. However, if you haven’t set a date and you’ve got time to do it yourself, then you should. There are tons of guides on not only where to find vendors and venues that fit your needs. There are schedules that can help you plan a wedding with very little time spent at all. A planner provides connections and a uniform approach but you can make that yourself if you’re willing to work a little harder for it.
Ignore ring traditions
For both the engagement and the wedding rings, be willing to buck the tradition that it’s all about how much you pay for it. There’s no difference between a quality 2ct diamond ring gotten from a wholesaler deal and one got from a jeweler. You’re going to be able to find the design you want, you’re going to be able to get the inscription you want. The only thing you’re missing is the exorbitant price.
Discuss keeping it small
This isn’t a decision you should make without much conferencing. One of you might prefer eloping, the other might have a dream to fulfill. Talk about it first considering not only your own wishes, but who truly deserves an invite, and what you want to do with the occasion. However, bear in mind that your costs can be dramatically cut if you’re both willing to go for a smaller occasion.
Time it well
The size of the wedding isn’t the only thing that can raise the price of it. The timing of the wedding can be just as bad. There are two periods of the year where you can expect to pay a lot more than usual. That is the summer and near Christmas and New Years. Not only do off-peak times of the year cost less than those in most demand. But it can even matter right down to the day of the week. A weekday wedding in Autumn can be a lot cheaper than a weekend wedding.
Of course, you shouldn’t assume you can skimp on every aspect of the wedding. Talk about it first and see what one-another would like. Unless the expectations for the wedding are getting ridiculous, it might be smarter to sacrifice some bills to help the day fit your partner’s dreams. But if you’re both okay with going outside of tradition then, by all means, do it.

My middle son and his wife had what they called a budget wedding in a hotel, they planned everything themselves, we all had a wonderful day, without breaking the bank
