As your kids get older, they become a little more demanding in terms of technology. They are part of a generation that was brought up on tech and it is usual for parents to turn to teen kids to help them work out how to use a new gadget. The plus side is that they can start to help around the house and some tech gadgets can encourage them to do so!If you can find tech devices that the whole family can enjoy then you are on to a winner! However, it is also true that being a parent costs money so you need to be clever about which gadgets you invest in. Here are some top ideas for your wish list.

Gadgets around the home

Your teen will love you forever if you install a Systemline multi room audio system in your home. It can be controlled via an App on their smartphones or tablets and offers the best possible home music and TV experience through 24 fully independent music zones. You can even have one outdoors if you wish. They can stream on-demand music services from your teen’s Spotify account. You may even be able to persuade them to listen to something educational from BBC iPlayer.

After music, the next priority for older kids is food. How many times do your teens raid the fridge in the evening? You end up continually trying to come up with ideas for nutritious food that will fill them up. It can cost you a fortune. A loaf of bread can disappear in 10 minutes so why not get the teens to bake their own?

When you invest in a bread maker you will have a constant supply of delicious and healthy bread and rolls and you can get the teens to make it themselves. The range of recipes on sites like Pinterest is huge and there is something to suit everyone.

A top tip is to get the kids to batch bake at the weekend and then pop the loaves in the freezer so that you can use them during the week.

One thing a home should never miss out on is a decent desktop computer. Sure, you and your partner are probably using laptops, but there are many advantages to having a desktop computer at home. For one, you kids won’t keep on borrowing your laptop since they have a computer to use for browsing, doing homework, or playing games.

Another benefit is that desktops can perform multiple tasks simultaneously with more ease because of the much-larger display and more-powerful CPU. Lastly, a desktop computer gives you more connectivity so you can simultaneously connect several peripheral devices, such as a printer, a mouse, and a keyboard.

Gadgets in the garden

Teens can be very useful around the garden. They are old enough to help out with garden chores without much supervision. The problem is, will they want to?

Luckily, there are plenty of amazing garden gadgets that will entice them out into the fresh air. Top of the list has got to be a pressure washer. This is superb at removing mould and grime from garden furniture, fences, patios, and yards. It is very satisfying to use because it makes things look brighter and fresher. It can get a bit addictive!

Once they have worked out how to use it, teens can make some pocket money by offering to wash your neighbour’s yards or even their cars. Now that everything has been cleaned with the pressure washer, you can let them loose with a pot of paint. Everything from garden furniture to plant pots will look better after a few coats!

My son uses a pressure washer to wash his car, if I talk nicely to him and he is in a good mood he will wash the house windows at the same time!
