The older brother
I have five children from two marriages. Three children from my first marriage and twins from my second marriage.
I always wondered how my older children would accept having two younger siblings. Saying that all three never had a problem.
The two oldest have very busy lives so they see their twin sisters as often as possible, but my son who has just turned 16 years old spends a lot of time with us and as the girls get older it’s been fantastic to watch this truly incredible brother-sister relationship develop.
The girls are now three years old and in the last nine months or so the interaction between them is amazing. The girls absolutely idolise their older brother and will follow him around.
They get him to play their games and he is so quick to join in and enjoy their company. Just a couple of days ago I heard so much laughter in the garden I wondered what was going on. When I looked out I saw him on the trampoline with the twins and all three of them were in fits of giggles!
My son is I would say a quiet unassuming lad, but when he is with his twin sisters he becomes outgoing and appears to enjoy making up games for them to play together.
I truly believe that the bond that has formed between them is unbreakable. Even as my son grows older and possibly goes off to university I think he’ll remember the times he spent with them with great fondness and the girls will always look up to their older brother.
That sibling bond will never be broken.

My eldest, like your son here, has built and amazing bond with his "half" sister, he plays with her (he's 15 she 5) has all the patience in the world with her, and she prefers her other brother! Bloomin sisters.

I also have five children with big age gaps. I find the hero worship the younger ones have for their older siblings is wonderful.
They might find the younger ones annoying at times, but there is also a great bond with them all that I love to watch grow.

My elder daughter loves looking after her half brother, my son is not so interested in a toddler but hopefully that will change.

What a lovely post and the pictures are so cute. I have that relationship with my cousin who is 13 years my junior. Wait until they are a bit older and your oldest son will probably love being able to be a complete little kid with them. I never laugh so hard with anyone else!! xx #pocolo

The sibling bond is amazing. I can so imagine how your girls must adore him. A kind of grown up but much more fun, to them. I love the photo of all three of them on the sofa. Mine are close together so it is different but still wonderful to see.

Aw that's lovely. My bro and I were at each others throats until I moved out when I was 17. Now we're good friends but we still don't cope well living under the same roof during holidays etc.

How lovely that 'he comes out of his shell' when he is around his sisters. My teenage son is more than happy to get on the floor and play with his toddler brother, intact he loves it.
