Tips for choosing a new TV

My wife and I have had our current TV for around 10 years. It’s served us well over the years aside from the odd occasion when the channels have all disappeared for no reason! It was easy to fix though with some simply re-tuning so we never really saw the need to buy a new TV.

We moved house last week and in the midst of all the unpacking we’ve been doing, my wife and I decided that it was probably time to buy some new furniture. Our first new purchase was a pair of sofa’s, which will be delivered next week.

We’ve decided that we’d like to buy a new TV for a number of reasons. We watch quite a bit of TV in the evenings. Mainly soaps and movies. Of course when the football is on, I’m sure my wife will let me watch that too!

Here are some tips when it comes to buying a new TV:

• For the movie lovers out there it’s worth considering a 4K TV. Panasonic 4K Tvs offer four times the resolution of HD and 8 million pixels on screen vs 2 million you get from a full 1080 HD TV.
• Wall-mounted or free-standing? An important choice depending upon a few factors. The size of the room in which your TV will be in and of course the size of your TV! If you have a large, spacious room you want your TV to be the main focal point of your room, in which case selecting a free-standing TV which can be placed on top of a nice TV unit may be best for you. If space is an issue a wall-mounted TV can be the answer to your prayers. By placing a TV on your wall there’s no need for a big TV unit and it looks pretty cool too!
• Going back to 4K TVs did you know that Netflix was one of the earliest platforms to pick up on 4K and has already started to release shows in the higher, stunning resolution, starting with the very popular second season of House of Cards and Breaking Bad!
• Size – Much like my second point above, the size of the TV you buy is heavily dependent on the size of the room that your TV is going in, but you may also want to consider who will be watching the TV. If it’s someone elderly a big TV has a number of benefits including larger text when it comes to subtitles. 
• Nowadays TV’s come in a range of different colours. You may decide to go for the most popular option of black or you could look for something a bit more out there such as pink! Whatever you decide make sure it’s a colour that the whole family agree upon!
