[ad] What Could You Live Without?

January 10, 2020

Here’s an interesting question, have you ever thought about what you could live without? There are some things in life that we must have, and especially as parents, those needs are not about us anymore, but about our kids and giving them the best life possible. When thinking in those terms, there are things you must have – for example, if you must have a car, then you need to have insurance, which covers everything from car towing to personal injury. You must have a home, somewhere for your children to live, and you need to be able to provide them with food and water.

Whittling down your belongings, needs, and habits helps to cleanse the mind, body, and soul. Not only is it of benefit to you but it is of benefit to the planet that we cut down on our consumerist attitude on life too. When you think about all the things in life that you have and think that you need, how much of it could you live without? And would it be beneficial for you to try living without it?

Today when everyone is conscious of the environment, then thinking about things that could help reduce waste and your carbon footprint might be the right place to start.

Paper Towels

Paper towels consume trees and water to produce, and oil to shrink wrap and ship. If you want to try living with less, then start with getting rid of paper towels and replace them with old t-shirts cut into rags.

Air Fresheners

Fragrances are just nasty chemicals and they only ever mask odors rather than get rid of them, but at the same time, they increase indoor air pollution. If you need fresh air, you could open a window, and if you want to eliminate smells, then try simmering water and baking soda on low heat.

Baby Wipes

When you have kids, it can feel like you can’t live without baby wipes, but honestly, you can. Most wipes contain chemicals, they all cost money, and they’re simply wasteful. Instead, use cheap thin washcloths to clean your kids’ bums, and if you need them to be damp then simply wet them.

.Memorabilia

Okay, on to something a little bit different…memorabilia. It seems like you can’t live without those souvenirs, those medals you won in football all those years ago or that shot glass someone bought you from Paris, that copy of your mate’s wedding order-of-service. You don’t need any of these things, and without them, you’ll still remember what it felt like win that football match or to be at that wedding. Those memories aren’t going anywhere.

CDs and DVDs

No ones needs these anymore; all the music and films you want are on the internet now or can be stored on a hard drive. So make some space on your shelves.

Meat

We are all used to having meat literally at the tip of our tongues whenever we want it. However, we’re all becoming more and more aware of the negative impact consuming meat has not only environmentally, but on our bodies as well.
