Couples And Counselling
When you meet the one, all of us instantly think this is it. My life is mapped out and nothing will ever change. Of course that is very the beginning of a relationship when no matter what you do, the other person never sees anything wrong in what you are doing. Over time it’s completely normal that gradually this begins to erode, and it is those small irritating habits that your partner has which become more noticeable, and all of sudden you actually start to begin to blow those bad habits out of all proportion.
The reason why we do this is actually quite simple. As our relationship gets older and grow we change and our priorities change. This of course can signal the end of a relationship.

1. Therapy
Just when you think it’s all done, it needn’t be because a relationship involving a couple can be put on the right track by very simply going online and getting some counselling. So often the problems you think you have with your relationship can easily be solved by some therapy by somebody who can look at the issues you have in an objective and constructive way. This will enable you as a couple to get your relationship going in the right direction again.
The world has changed so much and one of the biggest changes is the amount of help that is available online. The biggest advantage behind that having a therapist who can help you with your problems is that it’s done in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere and generally done in your home. As well as at a time that suits you both.
The longer your relationship goes on the more irritating those insignificant habits at the beginning of your relationship become and truth be known you forget why you fell in love to begin with. Sometimes you just need reminding that you still love each other.
The relationship has gone from harmonious to a battlefield, and now it seems everything each of you does or says will end up developing into a full blown argument. It is a toxic environment and all the love and harmony has all but disappeared, but that doesn’t mean that as a couple you can’t save your relationship.
With the help of a counsellor and good quality therapy you can re-ignite the relationship and get it back to where it once was. The bad habits were there at the beginning and they didn’t bother you then, so why is it they are bothering you now?
Therapy will help you both to learn to compromise, help you remember why you fell in love to begin with and those irritating habits will become a thing of the past.
It is always a common mistake that as the years go by people try to change their partner into something they are not. You cannot change people into an image that is in your mind. We are what we are and you shouldn’t want to change your partner one little bit. I remember being in a relationship once when the other person was determined after a while to dress me in shirt and ties etc, and the truth is that isn’t me. I’m a jeans and t-shirt type of person. Needless to say the relationship didn’t last.
I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
