Family Day At The Beach

Last Saturday we decided to go to a beach which is about a 30 minute drive from where we live. The beach is well known for its big waves so is very popular with surfers. It is also well known for its abundance of rock pools which was the main reason we went yesterday.

It was a chance for the girls to try out their new fishing nets in the rock pools, and hopefully catch a few crabs, or fish. Well we did catch a few fish, but the crabs never appeared! We didn’t actually see one, let alone catch one!

What is so wonderful about a trip to the beach is all you really need is a bucket and spade, and of course the sand is supplied and your children can have fun for hours on end.

It’s actually nice to not look at your phone or have technology going off in the background of your life.

Living in South Wales we are very blessed with a beautiful coastline with wonderful beaches every few miles. We’re actually very spoilt for choice.

This particular beach gives you the best of both worlds. Rocks for hundreds of rock pools to explore, sandy area for the sandcastle building which the girls love, and of course beautiful clear seas for swimming or of course surfing if you can.

This summer in the UK has been excellent with wall to wall sunshine, seven days a week, although it’s been hot at times during the night. It is so much easier to live with the sun shining and people are just generally are happier when the sun is shining. It makes people smile.

We had a fantastic day and all it cost me was petrol and car park which proves to me that lots of fun can be had without spending a fortune.

The cheapest days out are sometimes the best ones planned on a spur of the moment, and quite simply fantastic family time and just watching your children enjoy the simple things in life.
