Creating A Disney Themed Bedroom
We moved into our current home about three and a half years ago and like a very typical painter and decorator, I never get around to doing any decorating in our own home!
My six year old twin girls bedroom was in desperate need of re-decorating. The walls on one side had been plastered in football player posters using sellotape by one of our girls, and the curtains were Disney’s Frozen themed which the girls had up in our previous home, and they were looking seriously tatty and were definitely passed their sell by date!
Their bedroom was in need of a big makeover. It was quite honestly a mess!
We needed a theme which actually was the easy part. We recently had a week in Disneyland Paris so the obvious choice was a Disney themed bedroom.
So we sat down, and my wife decided, haha! Seriously, she did! We would have a feature wall, and all the other walls in white dulux matt emulsion.
The wallpaper we picked was a Mickey and Minnie Mouse black and white wallpaper which I love. We purchased this from Debenhams, and it’s made by Graham and Brown. It cost £14.99 per roll.
New curtains were an absolute must, and we decided on ones which were grey with white stars on. We bought them from Tesco Direct online.
The girls bedding was also in dire need of changing, and again we went with a Disney theme again. One is Mickey Mouse and the other is Minnie Mouse, which we got from Amazon. They cost around £23.00.
We also printed off some Superhero pictures such as Captain America which were to be framed, and we also made a frame up of our memories from our two trips to Disneyland Paris.
The final touch was a floating shelf from Argos in white which cost £21.99. We bought a shelf so that we could put all of the girls Disney figures on them, and it’s the perfect way to finish off their Disney themed room.
The girls love their new bedroom, and for very little cost, just £70, we have given the girls bedroom a complete makeover. It’s fantastic that they both love Disney because obviously they share a bedroom so arguments over design or colour are reduced.
