How far will you go to keep your kids happy?

Last Saturday we went to a birthday party at a local soft play venue called Funtastic.

R is very particular as a child, actually she is bordering OCD at the tender age of four. There are three things that must go with her everywhere. One is her Nike cap, one is her turtle sunglasses and this is whatever the weather. However, there is one other item which is her sheep watch, which she brought from a local community farm called Greenmeadow. This is something she takes off at night and one of the first things she puts back on in the morning.

Needless to say she wore it to the birthday party, not a problem. Or was it? Yes unfortunately, she went to the toilet and took it off to wash her hands and left it by the sink.
She was distracted and playing on the climbing frames etc so didn’t think about it. That is until we got home and realising she had left it at funtastic, R was beginning to go into meltdown mode.

We phoned funtastic, but nobody had handed it in so it was lost forever. Now you would think that it would be so easy to buy another online. Not a chance. We couldn’t get one anywhere. We tried phoning greenmeadow community farm, but no reply. Howver it was Saturday so surely they were open.

So I made the decision as the soft daddy that I am, that I would drive 20 miles in the hope that they still sold them which took me about 30 minutes.

When I got there thankfully they were open and YES! they still sold them. The relief was incredible! Why you may ask?

Sometimes when you are a parent you go the extra mile to make your children happy and to put a smile on their face. Then stand back and watch her face light up like a Christmas tree. That moment is magical and priceless, worth the effort that took just a moment of your life to do.

I would always do this sort of thing in a heartbeat. People may think it’s a bit over the top, but I dont! Love for your children is disguised in many ways and this is just one of them!
