I’ve Stopped Worrying What People Think Of Me!
With getting older there are some very negative aspects like not having the energy of a 20 year old, or feeling you can conquer anything because you are fearless. Sadly as you get older the body doesn’t quite do what it used to, and yes I now see the danger in situations that brings out the fear in me, and I will probably not do something just in case I end up hurting myself. When you are a twenty something, nothing stops you. In fact the more dangerous the better.
There are some things that maturity and age brings that I absolutely love. When I was younger in my late teens, and most of my twenties I would always worry what people thought of me, whether I had upset anybody or said the wrong thing to the wrong person, it would play on my mind until I put it right. I was always compelled to have to speak to them to make sure they were ok with me.
As you get older I have found that it really doesn’t matter because quite honestly I have found you can’t keep people happy all the time. At some point you will either say something or do something that upsets somebody.
I have now come to the conclusion that whatever I say or do, if it does upset anybody, so what! I have not done anything intentionally, but sadly somebody has taken it the wrong way.
I know myself and I know I’m not a bad person. I would never try to deliberately hurt anybody, and I would always try to help anybody if I could because after all isn’t that what life is about? Being kind and helping people.
Over the years though I have grown a very thick skin and that can only come with age. I actually really don’t care what people think of me, because you get what you see. Agreed it may be not what you want to see, but it’s me and I flatly refuse to change.
There is a reason why I have become like this. It’s because for years people tried to make me something that I wasn’t and eventually I just said to myself that’s enough. I’m going to to be me, and if you don’t like it well, tough! Live with it or ignore me, your choice.
With growing older it’s easier to be yourself. I have no-one to impress and will not allow negative people or thoughts to influence the way I am. This has all lead me to not worry in the slightest about what people think of me.
Do you worry about what people think of you? I would love to hear your thoughts.
