New Years Day Party with Iceland

We’ll be having a New Years Day party which is very exciting because New Years  is one of my favourite times of year to have a party because it’s the last day of the festive season, which means that the whole family can get together before they have to face going back to work or school.

I’m a dad of five children. Three that are teenagers and four year old twins, so once New Years Day is done, they all go their seperate ways, except the twins. They’re a bit young still, but it gives me the opportunity to have them all in the same room which is a very rare event.

This year I wanted to make it extra special with lots of lovely food from Iceland and a traditional bottle of processco and of course Buck’s Fizz to make the party go with a swing!

The first thing to do was to go to our local Iceland store to pick all of our party food, and whether you buy online or go to in-store the experiences of shopping at Iceland is a very easy and a pleasurable one. Our local Iceland store is about a ten minute drive away, and of course I had two little helpers with my four year old twin girls. This is what we bought:

• Dessert pots 6 pack
• Macaroons 12 pack
• Triple choc gateau
• Raspberry and chocolate Pavlova
• King prawn ring
• Buffet platter
• Chicken platter

Iceland also offers fantastic value as many of the items we brought were buy two for a reduced price and all the deserts were multi-save bargains. Delicious food at fantastic prices!

We also we bought strawberries which we planned on dipping in chocolate. Of course this is going to be followed by prosecco to wash the delicious food down with.

Now all we had to do was cook and prepare our New Years Day party feast!

The chicken platter was easy to cook, as it can all go into the oven at the same time. This takes approximately 25 minutes.

The party buffet platter was about the same time, but the pizzas needed to be lower in the oven. This all took about 20 minutes. The spring rolls only took about 15 minutes to cook.

The desserts just needed to be defrosted. Both the triple chocolate gateau and the pavlova took 3-3 1/2 hours to defrost at room temperature.

As mentioned above we also bought some strawberries from Iceland which we dipped in chocolate and sprinkles to liven them up a bit! They really did go down a treat. Not only do they look great, they also tasted great too!

My wife and mum loved the macarons. Not only are they brightly coloured, they were soft and sweet to taste which ensured that they didn’t last very long!

All the hot food was delicious and when cooked it looked exactly as pictured on the box. My favourite food though had to be the ring of luxury king prawns which comes with a seafood dip. If nobody else had come to our party I think I would haven eaten them all myself! They were truly delicious!

My wife loves olives so we lay a circle of olives around the prawn ring!

The dessert pots are available in a pack of six which includes two creme brûlée, 2 raspberry pavlova and 2 salted caramel.

All of the food was all complimented beautifully by the processco which we purchased from Iceland at a reasonable price of just £5.99.

We also bought some traditional party food such as mini pizzas, sausage rolls and sausages. These were included in the buffet platter box which is just £5 for approximately 80 pieces.

The crispy chicken platter includes southern fried chicken chunks, breaded chicken chunks and hot & spicy chicken strips.

As you can see all of the food went down well!

The quality of Iceland’s frozen party food really is fantastic. Their range is vast which means you can cater for everybody’s needs. Everything is clearly marked in the freezers and very easy to find.
