OK! Let’s Move On From CBeebies Your 5 Years Old

October 28, 2017

For five very long years CBeebies is permanently on in our home during the waking hours of our wonderful five year old twin girls. When oh when will this end, please tell me it will be soon I can’t take any more of the Twirlywoos, Bing and Postman Pat. No, wait I actually look forward to Postman Pat at 7.30am, it starts my day off just perfectly, I can go off to work in the knowledge that Pat saved the day again. Of course this is what all the posties in the world do everyday. The world would be a mess without your regular postman.

Don’t get me started on Bing. If anybody can explain this programme to me I would love to know what it’s all about. The relationships between them all is mind boggling, but the girls sit there transfixed totally by the adventures of Bing and his mates not once, but twice because CBeebies show two episodes at once. How kind of them!

Then we have the wonders of Teletubbies and Twirlywoos who don’t even string a sentence together that remotely resembles the English language, yet the girls seem to understand everything that is going on and everything they say.

I have well and truly been brainwashed and conditioned after five years of watching CBeebies to the point that the other day I was at home on my own, when the girls were in school, I was working away on my blog, I looked up and I noticed that CBeebies was on the tv and it had been for the past hour. Truth is I am so conditioned to it being on during the day that when it’s not on something doesn’t feel right. Haha!

So please I plead with you my darling five year old twin girls, grow up just a little bit, and move to the next stage of kids TV please. I’m all finished with CBeebies, please girls!

I would love to know your thoughts.

Ahh Nige! It must get to a point where they (and you!) are ready to move on but also it’s sad!! They’re growing up. Great read!

I missed the CBeebies parenting memo – we’ve never watched it. We didn’t watch any TV with her until 2+, and after that it’s been Netflix, Amazon Prime, and BlueRays/DVDs.

It’s like background music. It’s there. No body notices it. Till you try turn it off of course. 😜

Brilliant Nige! I feel your pain. In the Night Garden makes me feel like my brain is melting. I do however love Postman Pat! I’m always humming the “Special Delivery Service” song. When I grow up I want to be Ted Glen!

every few years mine will decide that she needs to move onto more “grown up” shows and will switch up her choices. we are fortunate to have about a half dozen kids channels to choose from
